On How Waste Changes Better Society: Research Paper

Research Paper Instructions:

Writing on materials and recycling is a great direction for the final paper. Finding specific examples to analyze will be essential. Beyond listing all of the possible natural disasters that can affect architecture, work along the lines of identifying a design project that you can study and interpret to help you formulate a critical stance. Don't make generalizations about building materials - the more narrowly you can circumscribe the subjects of your paper, and identify the objects (or, better, given the brevity of the paper, single object) you'll analyze to support your claims, the more persuasive you'll be able to be! Take a position, and use this paper to make an argument.

As requested in class, see below for the rubric that I use when I evaluate student papers:

A: superior level of work

Demonstrates excellent research skills

Includes information above and beyond what was covered in class

Critical analysis and interpretation of resources

Creative, focused, and well-structured arguments

Synthesis of ideas based on well-grounded evidence from scholarly sources

Well-written, cogent, well-edited prose

B: acceptable level of work

Satisfactory research skills

References to topics covered in class

Resources sufficiently described or summarized

Arguments made, but lacking in focus, irrelevant details, or tangential to main points

Imperfectly cohesive or lacking in transitions, but compelling ideas

Flawed or unclear writing

C: work that meets minimal standards

Negligible apparent research

Irrelevant to subjects of class

Resources interpreted questionably

Insubstantial or absent argumentation, lack of evidence for claims

Incoherent sections, or widely disparate ideas

Incomprehensible or unintelligible writing

Abstract
This paper focuses on waste management and recycling. In the subsequent paragraphs, I have elucidated on materials and recycling instruments that help prevent natural disasters or even tragic accidents in construction sites or locations where projects are built. Most primarily, this document focuses on the strategical methods of recycling and waste management that could affect architecture programs in a positive light. Moreso, identifying the design projects that involves waste management procedures will also be added in the next paragraphs. In the end, I have concluded and made a summary of the gist of information that are valid and legal that aids in building progress and movements toward the betterment of recycling and waste management. An accurate study of sources and literature review are enumerated in the body of this paper to give a more specific and organized presentation of the facts and remedies that could help the readers most particularly in the field of Engineering, Architecture and building projects. I have formulated a stance that will narrow down the topic of recycling and waste management in building materials.
Introduction
Our natural environment is affected by human activities and progress in relation to technical and civilization aspects bring about effects in the environment and are oftentimes irreversible. Thus, we must be deliberate in our programs and plans of understanding in full capacity the consequences of these activities and learn how to rationally use these activities without hurting the environment. In this paper, I have accurately discussed the proper usage and management of resources. We all know that the process of building structures and buildings involves that process of selecting materials that are efficient in terms of power and energy, using construction methods that are low in energy consumption and a safe usage of the modern necessities of thermal insulation. We must always keep in mind what ecological processes must be used and prevent strategies that could destroy the environment and have a drastic affect against people’s health and well-being. In terms of waste management and recycling, the government and corporations are required to follow the laws and internal rules and regulations (IRR) granted and laid down by both the state and the corporation. It is a must that staff and officials of a building and construction corporation adhere to the laws in order to prevent the possibility of accidents and tragedies that other workers, Engineers, and Architects have experienced. We must put into consideration that accidents are costly and could deplete the resources of the company that are supposed to be allotted for more building projects. In addition, we are careful in terms of protecting lives and limbs or even losing workers to a tragic accident.
According to Pawluczuk E. (2020) that in building industries, every corporation has plans and technological instruments and equipment that limit the pollution of the environment, produce no waste, and help use wastes as a result of post-production. Usually, natural in origin materials are highly favored since it helps create living conditions that are proven healthy and safe with the environment. There is no easy way to uphold safety and precautionary measures in terms of waste managements and recycling processes in structural building companies or organizations.
Furthermore, nowadays, we have seen how people are resorting to DIYs and recycling waste materials. What we are deliberately researching on is not that ordinary style and process of recycling but involves multi-billionaire companies and how they handle their construction messes in a delicate manner.
Literature Review
It is a proven fact that the bulks of numerous construction wastes as a result of either building infrastructures or dismantling procedures for redevelopments of buildings could lead to countless environmental problems. This is the very reason why our government alongside construction companies have laid down sets and documents of safeguards to counter unhealthy construction and structural developments. If we fail to follow these protocols, then consequences will ensue such as possible loss of life, and or pollution of our environment. We all know that one catastrophic event could lead to a chain of bad outcomes. This is the reason why we must understand fully how waste management and recycling must be processed. There are strategies on how to keep these processes safe and environment-friendly. Professionals in the field of construction such as Engineers and Architects have focused on the methods of recycling, recovering of wastes that have been demolished and could greatly help in cleaning the landfill capacities to regain other usage of remaining building materials. This helps in the process of embodied energy usage that could be used in future building projects. There are many types of waste management procedures that involves different classes such as wood wastes management and others such as energy recycling or what is known as assessments of energy cycles in terms of the end-of-life process of concrete commercial structures that are high rise buildings. Hence, whether the recycling is for wood materials previously used or for energy and power consumption, the important matter is that the whole procedure of recycling and managing wastes materials are considered safe and will not cause harm.
Therefore, in terms of the energies connected with various waste management methods have been calculated to decipher the options that can lead in the production of saving embodied energy.
1 Recycling
As stated by W.Y. Nga , C. K. Chaua (2015) that the process of recycling of building materialscould lessen the burdens involving the environment and that are in correlation with the materials in the infrastructure which could eventually help reduce the final life energy within the cycle by an approximately 30% . In terms of recycling metrials made of steel or aluminium, then do you know that the energy saved amounts to atleast over 50% in totality. Yes this is the energy saved and embodied in recycled materials.
As a definite and accurate research, the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of infrastructures where studied and assessed to have a concrete evaluation of the impacts or recycling and waste management in buildings, the environment and the employees or workers involved in the building process. This framework and scientific procedure actually analyses the life cycle energy (LCEA) consisting of manufacturing, operation and the demolition phases.
2 Waste Management
Amazingly, years ago and until this present era, the architects and engineers have been mostly concerned of the consumption of energy during the process of operations. Since this is the phase that will contribute greatly to the life cycle and would most likely have such a huge impact on the conventional infrastructures and numerous building projects. Also considered in waste management protocols is the advancement and developments of using only a low amount of energy that will have low environmental impact or no negative impacts at all to building designs.
We have to consider the environmental impacts or possible power consumption of the operating stage. Surely the energy usage will be reduced. Since the ultimate focus during this stage is on the amount of energy consumed while operating and manufacturing. Moreso, it must be noted that the demolition phase is also very significant for the energy buildings that is low in consumption.
Waste management must be accurately and carefully exercised or used since the process of building projects and infrastructures are delicate and must be handled with care. When it comes to development of buildings and infrastructures, there are no trials and errors. Everything must be concise and accurate no loger giving room for mistakes since a failure in the process will lead to death, tragic loss of life or even revenue. Hence, in establishing these developmental projects, we also keep in mind the liabilities which could be incurred if accidents do happen. Some might say but this is just the recycling and waste management phase so why be strict about it. Why? Because even during the recycling and waste management phase, the lives of the w...
