Globalization
Nowadays, people refer to the period where we currently live in as “the era of globalization” and some people marked this period as a new experience that has not occurred in the entire history. However, globalization is not entirely a new phenomenon. This is the progressing interdependence of the economy of various countries with differences in cultures and populations resulting in the interaction driven by trading products, information technology, and investments. Evidence suggests that nations have been moving toward this throughout history and in fact, the term globalization has been in the dictionary since the mid-1980s. 
           At the start of the 21st century, the world has begun to recognize and initiate to pick a momentum to the direction of advanced technologies and communication processes. The impact of globalization has been widespread all over the world and it especially helped the developing countries to gain foreign investors that enhanced their gross domestic product (GDP). Needless to say, its discovery halted the hindrance from the existing geopolitical barriers for businesses through its major pillars including capitals, the flow of products, technology, and labor.
           Globalization has also provided several benefits specifically with the increased access to more opportunities, experiences, and knowledge. There is an increased exposure to foreign culture in forms of food, entertainment, arts, fashion, etc. which results in a better understanding of previously two very different countries. With the mentioned increased access to another culture, so does knowledge, information, and technological advancements in various fields, with the constant connection that each country has. Due to this innovation and advancements, the production of goods for consumers has declined, increasing global competition which promotes its variety and affordability for the common people. Increased accessibility to a lot of things also leads to increased market due to the removal of the difficulty of business transactions done overseas or internationally. Common people are also affected by the globalization because more opportunities in finding education and employment overseas are available, providing a chance for them to explore and improve by gaining unique experiences. This also helps even the big companies to decrease their expenses and allot their resources more efficiently because nowadays, the communication and expansion of business ventures are made easier. Lastly, but not least is the effect of globalization on the standards of living all over the world. As reported by the World Bank, poverty has extremely decreased and various nations have experienced an improvement in their standard of living (velocity global, 2020).
Anti-globalization Advocacy 
Despite having a vast number of benefits for countries around the globe, globalization posed an imminent danger and devastation which brought some countries into significant distress. Thus, bestowing the world upon the idea of anti-globalization movements. This is evident in the 1999 Seattle Protests against the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference in Seattle, Washington, also known as, the “Battle of Seattle,” where militants, including locals and a group of anarchists, promoted and sponsored confrontational tactics, left-and-right campaigns, and performed vandalism incorporate properties in downtown Seattle. Major targets include the multinational groups of Nike, McDonald's, and Shell Oil. These caused Seattle millions of dollars secondary to property damage and an enormous number of lawsuits regarding civil rights violations.
           An issue that is becoming a trend in anti-globalization advocacy is the opposition to big companies and multination corporations that benefit from big money during economic growth. There are allegations regarding exploitation and abuses which trample on human rights, which started around the 1990s when labor unions against inhumane working conditions and child labor were rampant. Companies earning a lot of money are also involved with issues regarding unfair working hours, no benefits, low wages, the presence of safety hazards, violence, etc. causing the people to revolt and fight for their rights.
The presence of multinational companies also promoted the growth of capitalism which the anti-globalization advocates are against. This capitalistic behavior of the large-profit multinational companies is already trampling on environmental protection, ecological issues, animal rights, and other collateral issues. The low cost of labor and production greatly increases the number of products of almost everything that is manufactured which in effect increases waste products on our lands and seas, disregarding the concept of recycling and reusing of things just because it is readily available for all.
The key issues that sparked the rebellion include the following: First, Globalization upholds for global economic growth by providing jobs and enhancing the competitiveness of many companies worldwide. Moreover, it helps in decreasing the price which makes a variety of goods affordable for consumers. In contrary to this, a vocal protest using a manifesto by the renowned revolutionary anarchist faction, the Black Bloc, has a significant aftereffect to the society. The manifesto branded technology as the primary cause of the world’s ills and the group has called for the absolute annihilation of the system, especially the Internet, which conveys a large number of anarchist messages throughout the world.; and second, that capitalism ignores the welfare of the workers and it removes the decade-long cultures. Furthermore, it also endangers the ecosystems in exchange for profit (Bhagwati, 2002). 
           In addition to the aforementioned issues that global expansion face, there are also challenges such as human resource employment process wherein there is an efficient way of communicating with an interviewee, but aspects like thorough analyzation of interviewee’s demeanor and personality, are not given priority due to the nature of the interview being miles away in between the interviewer and interviewee. Not to mention, there are also other considerations to be given regarding cultural differences, time zones, and language barriers in the identification of the employee are fit for the position. Several people have benefited from the employment opportunities overseas that globalization brings but this affects local occupations, draining them of manpower and a strong workforce. Due to the surge in the number of people migrating abroad, there are also changes with immigration laws and requirements which are not as lenient in granting visas and passes. With regards to employment, exploitation of employees has been common due to the increased number of applicants and willing workers creating a cheaper workforce, but not necessarily better and fair. While there are also a lot of benefits that can be reaped from globalization, the most concerning to people, especially those who are nationalistic citizens is the loss of a country’s heritage and cultural identity, due to the blending of various foreign countries and societies, and emulation of the culture of progressive countries by those in the third-world countries and territories.
Due to these factors, protesters presented a list of specific corporations that have committed corporate crimes. This led to the creation of anti-globalization advocacy groups that consist of several social forces around the world and their primary goal is to advocate for liberal economic and political reform in a project named, “globalization-from-above.” 
           A few years after, some of these groups were able to establish international anti-globalization protests through the power of the Internet, the media, and technological mobilization, causing a profound impact. Through these novel and modern means, organizers were able to protest all over the world, reaching a vast number of audiences and participants. Previously tedious tasks such as arranging event dates, sharing of insights and experiences, accepting obligations and responsibilities, arranging logistics, initiation of new ideas, etc. that are done by activists and advocacy groups are now possible to be accomplished by people more easily, without distance being a hindrance. Resources are also used minimally making the whole process more effective and sustainable. Promotion of collaborative efforts and active participation from those who are part of the group, sharing the same sentiments and vision is now more encouraged. 
Multinational Companies
           Multinational companies are those businesses that operate and have branches in various countries worldwide. This involves business transactions, implementation, and activities in more than one location. The central office of these companies is located in one country, usually the home country of the one who founded the company. This is not only concerned with exportations of goods but the whole process involved in running the business including planning, production, marketing, sales, etc. is done in the country away from the central branch (Engler, 2007).
