The code of ethics for a company works in conjunction with other policies that guide the behavior of employees both in and outside the workplace. It combines the company`s mission and vision statements. The code of ethics must be specific in describing the particular aims and objectives of the company and the expectations from the staff in terms of behavior and responsibility. 2.0 Background of the organization The Home Care Centre was established as a voluntary organization to take care for the aged and homeless. It also cares for deserted children. They provide education facilities to school going children and food. The organization was founded by a group of volunteers who wanted to give back to the community. They mainly rely on donations from corporate companies and well wishers to finance their activities. The government sometimes gives support through access to subsidized services. 3.0 Summary of the code This code of ethics seeks to outline the main values and virtues that must be observed by all stakeholders of the organization. It shows the importance of enforcing such ethics for the realization of set goals and objectives for the organization. It also illustrates the need for continuous improvements in line with changing social, political and cultural needs. 4.0 Mission statement The organization`s mission statement is to provide safe, high quality and affordable care to the elderly and homeless children. They also aim at educating the children in order to have necessary skills and knowledge that will make them responsible citizens in the future. The organization will partner with other like minded organizations and social groups to improve the general welfare of the society. 5.0 Purpose of the code The main aim of the code is to instill professional ethics in the performance of duties in the organization. It offers a summary of the ethical principles which should guide performance of those duties. These ethical principles reflect the core values of the organization in general. The code also provides guidance to workers when carrying out their duties in cases of conflict between professional performance and ethical uncertainties (Francis, 2009) in certain situations. The code also lists the ethical standards that workers must uphold in order to meet expectations of the organization, general public and the society in general. 6.0 Core values 6.0.1 Service The workers must be willing and available to put aside self interest for the sake of others. 6.0.2 Social Justice The workers must confront the social ills in the society like poverty, illiteracy, indiscrimination and unemployment. It`s only through this that the organization will bring about social change in the society. 6.0.3 Integrity The workers must be honest and responsible for their actions. 1 Competence In order for the organization to achieve set goals, the workers must understand the scope of their assignments. Their qualifications must be in tandem with allocated duties. They must be professional in the performance of their duties. 7.0 Guiding principles The following are the main principles that guide the performance of duties in the organization: 1 The workers main responsibility is to assist the needy. They must have the knowledge and skills required for the performance of duties and responsibilities given. They must be selfless and willing to perform duties that improve on the welfare of the needy. 2 The workers must be ready to challenge any forms of social injustices. This will bring about social change in favor of marginalized and vulnerable groups in the society. 3 The workers of the organization must at all times be aware of the mission, vision and values which they must engage in. They guide their daily performance of duties and their behavior must be consistent with them. They must behave responsibly and in an honest manner to achieve set goals and objectives of the organization. 4 The workers must engage in what they are competent on. They should also contribute to the knowledge base of the organization by training others. They must also further their knowledge and skills to increase efficiency (Martin, 2000). 8.0 Employees covered by the code This code covers all the employees who are directly employed by the organization.
