The research gives the example of the use of video games in the learning environment as a tool to enhance understanding among the students. Also, the authors highlight the manner in which technology has resulted in the well-being of people because hospitals can use sophisticated equipment for treatment. However, the distraction caused by technology in the learning process was the key issue as to why the participants did not advocate for its use. Students use mobile phones in classrooms instead of listening to what the teachers are teaching. The addiction to internet use presents itself in the same manner as that other thing such as drugs. People have become addicted to the internet hence bringing a negative impact on their lives instead of doing something that would result in a positive reward. Individuals with elevated demand and discounting were at greatest risk for problematic Internet use. The use of the internet was found to have the closest relationship with other behaviors. Internet, smartphone, gaming, and cybersex did not have many relationships with technology-mediated behaviors. The internet is full of information that can be helpful or misleading. The characteristics of the internet make it difficult for people to interpret it flexible and come up with varied opinions as expected by its user. The future of the internet presents various ethical issues that could have an impact on the worth of introducing such technologies in society. Among such are the changes in social behaviors. People have to consider the ethical implication of the future of the internet before implementing any technology. Explanation of How the Article Supports EBP/Capstone Project This article relates to my proposal in the fact that the use of education technology is not only useful in the society but also has negative impacts. The use of electronic devices to access the internet takes much of the student’s time that could have been spending on studies. As well, they get to access pornographic content which could, in turn, have a negative impact on their life. The article brings out the theme of moral decay in society. As well, the theme of moral decay as a result of technology use is revealed by the addiction that people have about the internet. Such addiction has resulted in a generation of “dummies” that cannot think on their own and have to refer everything to the internet. Often, the users engage in non-rewarding activities, and this does not help the society to grow morally upright generations. The continued addition to the internet could turn out to be a global problem hindering the achievement of goals if something is not done. The addiction to the internet has become a major problem in society. This brings out the theme of moral decay by showing the manner in which the current t generation is using the internet for the wrong reasons. For example, cybersex is luring the young generation into sexual exploitation because their addiction toward the internet takes much of the time that they could be spending in interacting with people in the real world to do constructive things. Therefore, technology-related problems will keep on affecting society as long as people remain internet addicts. Also, such moral decay is also being reflected in the schools because most addicts are the school going individuals. Peer pressure is also contributing to the addiction. The internet is helpful regarding providing information to its users. However, it has become difficult to control the kind of information that is available for use by its stakeholders. As a result, children end up being able to access pornographic materials because the characteristics of the information systems do not hide such information from students. It has become difficult for the internet to control the information that is available to the society and therefore, this has contributed a lot to the moral decay of the users. There is no balance between the technical and the social use of the internet because nobody monitors what other people are accessing on the internet. People are already concerned about the moral decay that has been caused by the introduction of technology. Given the fact that technology is still advancing, then there is a high chance that the negative social behavior will keep on increasing if something is not done. However, it is difficult to control the use of the internet and the devices used. Therefore, it is expected that the negative impacts of the internet in society will get worse in the future as compared to the current situation. Given the current advancements in technology, there is a substantial level of negative impacts that the internet has caused in the society. Therefore, because the technology creators do not consider such effects when creating technology, then more problems are expected to erupt in the future.
