Abstract
Immigration is a constant current occurring instance in our country, and the United States gives home refugees from many different countries around the world. Several reasons have led to immigration such as terrorism, unstable political system, and natural disaster, for instance, earthquakes. The United States should have a legalized system of immigration to save the lives of many people in trouble and conflicts running for their dear lives. The paper will focus on the relationship between economic growth and immigration, as well as the policy changes that could empower immigrants in the country. Political systems have a terrible notion of immigration in the history and rational immigration policy that abuse the rights of immigrants (Amelina, Horvath & Meeus, 2016).
Immigrants benefit the economy in a variety of ways, such as increasing workers in the employment sector. They offer highly skilled labor that bridges the gaps in the labor market due to their better educational standards. Therefore, their presence will increase the workforce in the country, leading to the start of new businesses. Current policies have limited economic growth in the country. For instance, immigrants undergo a lengthy process, and it is costly, in the acquisition of American citizen or residency. Such factors underrated and discouraged many immigrants in the United States, as some went back to their motherland countries.
Introduction
Immigration offers the country an opportunity to acquire better and skilled workers to improve our economy. We turn away qualified personnel that could transform our industrial sector positively that increases our competitive advantage in the global markets. Immigration reform is an effective way of encouraging immigrants to stay in our country. They should have the same opportunities as Native Americans in job-seeking opportunities, education services, healthcare facilities, and better security measures. Besides, they should easy accessibility of residency in the country to avoid living in doubts if they are secure. The state should allow a flexible system to enable potential workers to come into the country legally. It will enhance our efforts in the positive transformation of the economic development of the country.
The green card authorization system decreases the number of skilled labor in the country. Many of the immigrants use temporary visas for the stay in the country instead of green cards. Tedious work and technicalities in the acquisition of the green discourage the foreigners from applying for this document. Nevertheless, the immigrants have high propensity to engage in business as opposed to the Native Americans (Bermeo & Bartels, 2014). The immigration department needs to reduce the restrictions on the immigrants to have free entry as well as the departure of the country according to the economic state.
Literature review
The notion of opposing immigrants have long passed by time, and they old believes that we need to forget. The fear in the Americans of immigrants replacing them in employment is not valid. On the other, it could occur where the immigrants have quality skills and knowledge in the same occupations. Various studies depict of a positive increment of the wages of the Native Americans. Appropriate immigration will increase the number of immigrants legally entering, staying, and employed in the United States. If there were no green card system, the number of immigrants would double in the country that could positively influence the economic system. It will increase the level of graduates in the country who will improve the country`s technology in different professional fields.
Different immigrants suffer in the hands of American employers, as they are subjects to poor pay despite the hard tasks they perform in the industries (Brochmann & Jurado, 2013). Besides, women have a greater vulnerability in the employment sectors due to different forms of harassment, such as sexism and gender. Therefore, these factors send immigrants away, and some fear to share ideas with the Native Americans that scares the economy of the country. Nowadays, foreigners are the backbone of our economy as they have good relationships with their native countries, leading suitable trading activities with American firms and industries.
Body
America is at the forefront to revolutionize its economic growth to suit the current technology. As a country, it must reform the immigration policies to be its part of the growth agenda. Immigrants are the primary founder of many companies in the United States, such as Yahoo and Google (Edo, 2018). They have different skills that are unique from those of the Native Americans, which spur growth in the country. Immigrants have fruitless efforts that lead to positive transformation and development of the economy. For example, they reduce labor shortages in the economic sector, depending on their skill levels. It has led to increased outputs of products that are necessities to the entire country as well as exports of the country. It increases the levels of revenue in the country that enhances in the facilitation of different governmental projects.
Furthermore, the educational basis of the immigrants varies from those of the Native Americans statistically. Many of our graduates have qualified for high school diplomas and some college educational qualifications. However, a limited number of adults have awards in high school and some with PhDs in science and math-related fields. On the contrary, the immigrants have a distribution of academic qualifications with some adults lacking high school diplomas and PhDs in math and science suiting them in the employment facilities. Therefore, many Americans have high academic qualifications, which disqualifies them from working in low-skilled areas. Non-American citizens have equal requirements in academics such as low skills and top skills that give them the advantage to work in various levels in industries.
The immigration policies have reduced the number of immigrants into the country. For instance, the introduction of the green card system hardened the relat...
