The youth is one of the most affected because their generation is the most dependent upon it, as present technologies did not exist for the older generations. The conclusion to this is obvious such that humanity must find a way in order to integrate in its system, a much more productive use of social media. CITATION She16 \l 13321 (Sheldon, 2016) If people can prioritize learning, sharing important knowledge, producing scientific discoveries, rather than non-sense trends about celebrities, and over-priced products, then truly, the world can be a better place.
The effect of social media is undeniable in the fields of commerce, entertainment, marketing, politics, and communication and is arguably the biggest influence that affects the most in global population. From young to old, people are joining the different channels of social media in order to interact in the cyberworld. As many of us know, the internet is a very good avenue for dealing with people in business, or casual conversations. This deletes the need to leave the home, spend money and time in order to talk about things. The majority users of the social medias are young people from ages 9-19, who are perceptibly the most vulnerable to online scammers and hackers. If these young people are mostly spending their time in social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and such, they can have access to different influences that might be good or bad, and some, outright nasty CITATION She16 \l 13321 (Sheldon, 2016). These instances can produce trauma upon the child emotionally and mentally. Another influence of social media is that it lessens physical and emotional contact with other members of the family or friends. It can imprison one’s mind to browse and scroll endless tabs of useless information rather than be creative and productive in our spare time which over the long run, can diminish an individual’s confidence and ability to interact with other people physically. The internet also offers a lot of marketing sites that are selling almost all kinds of products that can easily be ordered online. Social media influences all those given aspects through the modes of advertising and internet traffic control. Big websites can easily control the people’s decisions or minds to some degree by applying adverse marketing techniques to direct the people into buying in their business. CITATION Sig12 \l 13321 (Sigala, 2012)

The researchers have proposed a new model of human interaction which they labeled as “From the Campfire and the Lighthouse”. In this model, the researchers are vying to make people understand that information sharing has greatly evolved, such that, in ancient times, only the higher in social status may share and direct information and stories towards a larger group of people, in this case it can be likened to the “lighthouse”. Today, they argue that the mode of information sharing has transcended its “possessive culture” from an individual ego based sharing information into a much more democratic way of sharing knowledge where in information is shared properly among equals in a manner that influences both the sharer and the receiver of information, in this sense, the “campfire”. This manner of information sharing, according to the researchers are crucial in making an influence to the larger picture of global communication. CITATION Ver \l 13321 (Hefner, et al., 2016)
