The first data collection tool we used for collecting data is a Checklist. This can be regarded as a list or format created to carry out repetitive activities (Hesse-Biber, 2018). With a checklist, it was easy for us to collect data in a systematic and orderly manner. It also helped us carry out inspections where it was integral to record what the inspected points were. We examined, analyzed and verified different resources before collecting data to ensure reliability, authenticity, and consistency. Checklists are beneficial in a way that they save our time; we do not have to remember different steps and can delegate tasks without any major issue. The Statistical Society of London pioneered the questionnaire and checklist in 1838.
Just like checklists, Interview is another great data collection method. Face-to-face interviews helped us collect beneficial information and we were able to determine whether the interviewee was providing false details or correct information (2019).
