Freedom of worship is a fundamental thing to every human being. This on the other had has resulted in deferent forms of "gods` that certain religions believe in and put their trust in them. Though there are many religions in today`s universe, the most known religion and those that has impact in the societies are Christian and Buddhism religions. These religions have made their followers believe in them, and they try to get others to be followers of their own religion. This paper seeks to look at the comparison and contrast between Christianity and Buddhism as well look at their truth, reality, living and after-life.
While examining the vital differences of Christianity and Buddhism, it is fundamental to say that the popular appeal of Buddhism today is one of the poise tolerance and non-dissention. Buddhism is taken as a belief system that many feels can aid them isolate, maintain neutrality and find peace in the world of injustice and anguish. There are those who believe that Buddhist teachings and Christianity are companionable and that one can be a Christian and at the same time adopt the teachings of Buddha (Jones, 2004).
The fact is that, though one can find numerous truths in Buddhist teachings, Buddhism and Christianity are not compatible in many ways. Upon assessment of vital Christians and Buddhist beliefs, it clearly shows that there is an obvious contrast between Christianity and the teachings of Buddha. Though some Buddhism claims that "we believe in the same things; there are many paths to God"many crucial Buddhist teachings are entirely opposed to the of the Christians (Biblical)
In order for one to come up with a better argument on the two religions, it is imperative to look at the different believes by the key religions. Though some believe that one can be one can be a Christian and at the same time practice Buddha teachings, let`s look at the difference and they believes of each religion to be in a position to tell whether this is possible.
* For instance, Buddhist believe that there is no almighty God and that there is no one to hand out rewards or punishment on a supposedly judgment Day.
Though this is a Buddhist affirmation, the bible and the modern science affirms that indeed there is an almighty Creator. Different from that, the modern physics has also affirms that the universe did not exist but had a certain beginning of space, time and all matter about 14.5 billion years ago, popularly known as the big bang This is a theory which states that first cause indeed had to have been almighty to have created everything. It is the best proved theory which states that the almighty created all matter; time and space were created out of nothing in an instantaneous way in order to have what we have today in this marvelous finely tuned and highly complex creation that we live in(Jones, 2004).
Relying with the modern science evidence, the bible still affirms that that there was a first cause to all things that in the genesis, God created the heavens and the earth in (Gen1:1). In this verse, the bible declares that we have an "amazing God". While science today asserts that we have an expanding universe, the bible had revealed it long time ago that He stretches forth the heavens like curtain. The same bible says that God says nothing is too hard for him if we only believe and trust in Him.
Rewards and punishments have to do with judgment and accountability. In this case, the bible affirms that every human being will give account for their actions to god one day. Even if God is a loving creator, he is also just and must punish sin. Though we are all sinners before the eyes of God, the Bible asserts that those who put their faith in God and trust Him they will be saved since god Himself came to earth inform of a man to pay for the ultimate penalty for our since and to rescue his beings. The bible sates that "for by the grace we are Saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God not of works lest any many should boast" (Ephesians 2:8)
It is true to say that good works are fundamental, but they are like the fruit of a good tree that is decisively planted. In this case, faith produce good works (fruits of the Holy Spirit). Christians are believed to reap rewards in life by helping others and by doing that we grow in character to be more like Christ. For those who are against the will of god, they will have an account to god one day and apart from Christ saving work on the cross for them; it`s a challenge to them whether their work will save them. On the other hand, Buddha has eight fold path of save guidance but the bible is against them saying they cannot be saved by them since the stains of sins do remain. The same Bible affirms that nor is there salvation by any other, for there is no other name we must be saved apart from that of Jesus. (Acts 4:120)
* The other aspect that has contrast is that Buddhism is strictly not a religion in the context of being a faith and worship owing allegiance to supernatural being.
Tough Buddhism does not recognize a supernatural being, it is still a religion. It is believed that practitioners pursue a set of rules (religiously) and pay homepage to an ordinary being different from Christians, Buddha (statues) are stiffed to Buddha, and supporters revere his legacy teachings. Different from Christians, who based their salvation on faith in God and his finished work of liberation, Buddhists practice good works and disinterest with the world to hopefully lighten suffering hoping that one day in the cycle or Re-birth they will attain clarification (Küng, 1986).
Buddhism emphasizes that each individual must on their own way work to attain perfection as one works through countless re-births bearing in mind that one day they will attain enlightenment. This is clear indication that Buddhist believes and worships the creation in this case (one self) rather than the creator. What makes Buddhism different from Christianity is that there is no evidence in re-birth, while death is still an obstacle we all must face before the great beyond. In disparity to Buddhism, the bible says that man is appointed to live once on earth which is a testing ground for the eternity which Christians were promised.
The other issues which make Buddha different from Christianity or Christianity from Buddha is that Buddha emphasizes on potential for precision within, promoting worshiping of the creation, rather than the creator. They believe that through mediation, good works and following Buddhist teachings one will be in a position of saving one self. On the other hand, the Bible states that Jesus is the only key to salvation, fulfillment and enlightenment, since there is no other name under heaven by we mankind must be saved.
In distinction to Buddhism, the Bible states that there is an all-powerful, all-knowing creator God and it also states  that the human condition is in a fallen state, lost, sinful and in need of a savior. This message is portrayed in both the old and new testaments, where the Bible states that "the heart is deceitful, and desperately wicked, who can know it?" there is also the quotes that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The bible states that we are all stained with sins since the beginning due to our first two human that is Adam and Eve. Since history, man has be a rebellion against God and even fellow humans. Due to this reasons, there is the passage of inherent sinful nature that is passed on to each of us a reason why we require to believe in God for our since to be cleansed.
Man has been separated from God by his rebellion the reason why we need a redeemer. Different from Christianity, Buddhism in effects teaches that mankind can save himself by following th...
