There is a growing concern due to modern technologies and how they impact individuals’ behaviors, attitudes, and mental well-being. The potential research areas to build off these articles include understanding how video games, smartphones, and internet use influence users’ self-esteem, self-worth, and jealousy. The more known about this topic is that there is no substantial proof that social media is an authenticated diagnosis. However, it is one of the most prevailing causes of intimated behavioral addictions (Sherlock & Wagstaff, 2019).
Social media platforms, such as Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, and Facebook, attract and appeal to increasing users every day. It is also noted that young people are among the primary users, resulting in immense anxiety and mental distress (Henzel & Hakansson, 2021). This is an area that requires further research in order to understand the implications of social media use among teenagers and youths. Liu and Ma (2020) established that social media users suffer bitterness and resentment. Numerous activities can be undertaken in social media, imposing diverse psychological pressures on people (Hassan & Tatari, 2021). The stress acquired through social media presents challenges in maintaining genuine life relationships, affecting their long-term mental well-being (Hjetland et al., 2021).
