Introduction
Stress is a body reaction towards physical, mental, or emotional demands. Managed stress can be helpful and healthy when the demands are viewed as challenges that support people’s growth and development. However, stress that is not managed can become detrimental when events are observed as threats. Stress can result from expectations people place on themselves and other people expectations. Physical environment, such as noise, weather, and season variations are factors that can cause stress (Aetna, 2011). Moreover, internal environment factors, such as academic pressure, frustrations, and decisions also cause stress. People live in an environment where they encounter stress situations on a daily basis, hence the need for preparing to cope with the extreme stress. People can prepare for extreme stress by implementing measures that reduce their susceptibility to stress
Discussion
Physical exercises play a vital role in addressing extreme stress. Physical exercises raise individual heart rate that is argued to annul the harm to the brain caused by stressful actions. Moreover, physical exercises prompt release of endorphin that makes people feel happy and relaxed (Barringer & Orbuch, 2013).In addition, people who engage in physical activities have lesser rate of worries and depression than people who do not engage in physical activities. Physical exercises, such as swimming, riding bicycle, walking, and hiking are noted to help in reducing extreme stress
Proper diet helps peoples to cope with extreme stress. It is noted that when people experience stress, prefer eating sweet foods, such pizza, and ice cream. However, these foods with high concentration of fats make people sluggish, hence unable to deal with stress. A low fat diet rich in fiber and carbohydrates make people active and provide the body with energy and nutrients that improve the immune system. Carbohydrate is suggested to trigger brain to produce serotonin hormones, which are responsible for relaxation. Moreover, extreme stress can weaken the body capability to fight diseases (Barringer & Orbuch, 2013).Therefore, intake of fruits and vegetables that are rich of antioxidants enhance people immune system. In addition, intake of water has shown to activate release of stress hormones that regulates changes that occur to the body in response to stressful events
Sleep allows body to relax and brain to refresh. Moreover, sleep restores energy level and reduces stress. Adults require at least seven hours of sleep every night, while children and older adults require a minimum of nine hours of sleep every night. It is suggested that the level of stress rises when the length and quality of sleep diminishes. However, some people lose sleep when they have stress. People experiencing high levels of extreme stress do not get quality and enough sleep because their minds are not settled (Haley, 2015).
Talking to other people helps in reducing extreme stress. People help in offering alternatives that can help people to ease stress. It is suggested that when stressed people talk to a friend or a counselor it helps them relieve stress. Studies suggest that people can get solution of a problem when they stop thinking about the problem. However, people unconsciously continue thinking about the problem (Aetna, 2011).The social support is noted to assist people to stop thinking about the problem for a period of time then help the mind to formulate a solutio...
