Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Dimensions
WHAT IS ABA?
The seven dimensions of ABA identified in your course texts and the Baer et al.'s 1968 article, Some Current Dimensions of Applied Behavior Analysis," are the guiding principles for the field of ABA. As a developing professional, it is important to understand the dimensions because each one is relevant to the work of a behavior analyst.
_Identify which of the articles is behavior analytic and which is not, and provide an explanation for your choice.
_Be sure to identify which of the seven dimensions of ABA are present in the behavior analytic article.
_Analyze why the other article is not behavior analytic. How do you know the seven dimensions are not present?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Dimensions The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) professionals have used the seven ABA dimensions for many years to successfully implement concise and effective research-based interventions for clients. They include generality, technological, effective, analytic, applied, conceptually systematic, and behavioral (Baer, Wolf, & Risley, 1968). These aspects are crucial in providing ABA therapy for individuals with autism or other developmental disorders. The paper focuses on two articles and identifies the one that uses the seven dimensions of ABA.
“Effects of Training, Prompting, and Self-Monitoring on Staff Behavior in a Classroom for Students with Disabilities” by Erin Seligson Petscher and Jon Bailey is a behavior analytic (Petscher & Bailey, 2006). On the contrary, “Nonsuicidal Self-Injury: A Systematic Review” by Annarosa Cipriano, Paolo Cotrufo, and Stefania Cella is not behavior analytic since it focuses on secondary sources from PsycARTICLES and PubMed based on the primary features of the nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) (Cipriano, Cella, & Cotrufo, 2017). A behavior analytic article should portray all or some of the seven ABA dimensions. They are analytic, effective, generality, technological, applied, conceptually systematic, and behavioral. ABA interventions are essential to a client and are socially significant. Behavior goals are usually written in measurable and attainable ways. Petscher and Bailey’s article is behavior analytic since it comprises some aspects of ABA as discussed in the following section.
Petscher and Bailey’s article has several ABA dimensions. First, applied is present that shows the importance of the variable of interest to specific individuals. In particular, the study examined the impacts of a treatment package implemented using a token economy by instructors in a class of students with disabilities (Petscher & Bailey, 2006). Second, a behavioral element is available and analyzes the physical events that can be precisely measured since the individual actions that changed can be identified. In the scenario at hand, the instructional assi...
