Higher Education in Today's Society

Research Paper Instructions:

This course is a culmination of the skills and abilities acquired during your coursework at ASU. The research paper for this course should integrate these personal and professional skills and discuss the value of higher education in today’s society. Manage your time accordingly because as others will tell you, late papers that have not been coordinated with me before the due date is reached are not accepted and earn zero points. If that happens, you will need to retake the course the following semester.

Specifically, address the following issues in your paper.

What skills (teamwork, technology, communication, etc.) did you develop and/or strengthen?

How will you use these skills to begin or improve your career?

What opportunities does higher education provide to citizens?

What have you gained from your educational journey and why would you encourage others to follow in your footsteps?

How will you maintain a lifelong learning attitude?

The syllabus asks that your paper address the value of higher education in today's society. The question some have asked is "should I write this from a personal perspective" and the answer is yes. You want to include how your education has affected your life but you also must include research that shows how education levels affect lifestyles and opportunities. There is some good research that discusses the differences higher education can afford individuals. One really helpful site is the U.S. Department of Labor. They have several links and resources that provide data on quality of life as well as lifetime earnings information based on levels of education.

I hope this addresses some of your questions but please do not hesitate to contact me if you have other concerns.

The paper should follow the APA 7th edition format. The paper should include:
Title page
Times New Roman (12) font
Abstract
Minimum of 7 pages of narrative
Minimum of 6 references (minimum of 3 scholarly and/or peer-reviewed articles/references, plus an additional 3 references)
Reference page(s)
The paper should be typed and double-spaced. The reference pages must list all citations used in the paper and again, use at least 3 scholarly or peer-reviewed references and 3 additional sources. Do NOT submit a paper written for another class during this or a previous semester. The paper must be professional in appearance and of college-level writing quality. A grading rubric will be provided outlining how the paper will be graded. You must submit your paper to the “Assignments” tab “Research Paper” link. You will also provide both your paper as well as your presentation to LiveText under your MG480 Assignment AND to your LiveText Portfolio.

Higher Education in Today's Society
Throughout my business management course, I have learned a wide range of abilities that will be useful in my future profession. I developed several of these abilities primarily via teamwork, technology, and Communication. I learned several vital talents for my business management profession from each of the three areas. First, this paper will go through some of the abilities I have acquired during my course and how they will help me get started and advance in my job. Second, I will highlight some of the benefits of higher education for citizens, why I would urge others to follow in my footsteps, and how to maintain a life-long learning mentality.
Communication Skills
When it comes to good Communication, it requires learning about each person's background, issues, and viewpoints. It is crucial to communicate effectively in negotiations to ensure I achieve my goals in my business management career. Communication is also essential within the business. Effective Communication may aid in the development of a positive working connection between you and your employees, which can boost morale and productivity. I learned specific communication skills, such as active listening and nonverbal and vocal Communication, that are very important in my career.
Verbal Communication
Verbal Communication is referred to as Communication that includes exchanging information through spoken words, written messages, or sign language. Effective verbal communication is an essential aspect of interpersonal relationships and commercial and professional conversations in the corporate world (Lawson et al., 2018). For global firms or enterprises interacting with worldwide investors and stakeholders, understanding the importance of verbal communication is critical. An obvious communication barrier exists between the two parties from different religions and cultures; it might negatively impact one's emotional feelings and work as a deal-breaker (Blewitt et al., 2018). In a business management job, one needs to have good verbal communication abilities to instantly get authority to convince or influence clients in the business.
Non-Verbal Communication
Much more than good Communication is required to be a successful businessperson. Winning the sale and engaging with clients in business requires just a minimal amount of verbal communication. The rest is a matter of having appropriate nonverbal abilities and knowing how and when to employ them. Non-verbal Communication, more than voice or even words, allows individuals to know other people's thoughts. Our body language, which includes the slightest facial expressions, emotions, and gestures, may sometimes reveal our genuine thoughts and feelings about something, even if our voice and words are under control. As a result, it's critical to keep our nonverbal signals under control to carry out practical economic activities (Blewitt et al., 2018). Even before a word is spoken at a business conference, the receiver, on the other side, watch the speaker's body language and facial expressions, attempting to decipher all of these symbolic messages. For instance, Smiling is an essential part of our body language repertoire, particularly in business, since it has the power to influence people's opinions directly. It also affects how other people respond to you. A good response is always accepted in the business world, and a grin seems to be the secret to that. More than an excellent impression may be made with good eye contact (Lawson et al., 2019). Eye contact may make the other person trust you, remember you, and desire to work with you on a business idea. Eye contact may reveal whether or not a person is at ease in their skin, whether or not they are engaged in anything, and whether or not they are honest or confident. All these communication skills are of much importance in my business management career.
Teamwork skills
Teamwork skill is the traits and talents that enable individuals to work successfully during talks, projects, meetings, and other collaborations. The capacity to communicate effectively, actively listen, and be accountable and honest is required for practical cooperation. These abilities are critical in my business management position since working together to attain a common objective (Lohmann et al., 2019). Building a sense of ownership, Greater Flexibility for the Business, and fostering creativity and innovation are some of the talents I gained.
Build Sense of Ownership
Employees can accept more responsibility for decisions when working in groups, and team members can influence more of the work process. Employees get more power and ownership over the projects they work on, which can increase morale. Increased duties may lead to a more enjoyable work environment and reduced demand. Performing as part of the team also gives workers a more incredible feeling of connection and appreciation, which allows them to enjoy their jobs and businesses more (Lohmann et al., 2019). This type of teamwork skill will be essential in my business management career since it will help me interact with other staff and raise quality decisions for the business's success.
Greater Flexibility for the Business
Teamwork may assist businesses in being more adaptable. Problems or bottlenecks may sometimes be resolved more readily by bringing people from various aspects of a project together into one team. For instance, an automobile business may employ this strategy while developing vehicles. Instead of going through distinct departments for each new automobile design, such as design, engineering, and components supply, the car manufacturer will put together a single team that comprises personnel from all of those departments to create each car. As problems occur in one area, the entire team can address them, allowing the project to go forward quickly.
Foster Creativity and Innovation
Some businesses employ teams and teamwork to foster a creative work atmosphere. These organizations' organizational structures are frequently based almost entirely on cooperation, with employees hired into generic work areas and then assigned to projects that best match their abilities and interests (Donia et al., 2018). There is no line of command or leadership hierarchy, and leaders are appointed. Employees are free to form new teams when new ideas come to them and use teams to their full potential. This is known as a flat lattice teamwork-based business structure, and it is utilized by businesses that want to be innovators.
Technology Skills
Technical skills refer to the knowledge and abilities needed to do specific digital or phy...
