Introduction
Canada is a unique country that has numerous cultures due to the high rate of immigration of people from different countries. Given the Trudeau administration program, Canada was among the first countries to embrace immigrants and connect with the different cultures (Yilmaz & Boylan, 2016). It ranks among the first countries in the world that receive the highest number of refugees due to the positive attitude given towards refugees. According to Allen (2015), Saskatchewan is one of the provinces that was doing its best to host all the different refugees given the available resources. However much it is difficult to house them, they will be taken to hotels for some time and later given rental houses. Nevertheless, an idea came up that those without English names should change their identity to fit with the standards of Canada (Pennesi, 2017). It was opposed since it would take a very long time to get everything done, and their cultures get distorted. For multiculturalism to be a success, the education system should improve, people should be allowed to use their languages and work as a team.
Education System
As a result of many immigrants settling in Canada, the pressure on the existing education system will increase. In a bid to handle students, numerous buildings should be put in place to enable them to get equal opportunities to education and get informed. Besides, the Ontario Ministry of Education has put in place different reforms like the Equity and Inclusive Education Strategy, where all students access high-quality education without considering their origin (Campbell, 2020). Furthermore, the Ontario Curriculum from grade one to eight considers multicultural education, which allows students to get exposure to different backgrounds and guide teachers on how to handle the students with different cultures. Thus the entire education system in Canada should be transformed to enable the refugees to learn quickly.
Languages Used
Since there are diverse cultures within Canada, all parties should get equal representation in parliament, and the various constitutional provinces should be allowed to use their official language in the legislative field. Due to multiculturalism in Canada, there was the signing of the Official Language Act to allow the use of French and English as a means of communication in Parliament (Heritage, 2019). The government should also protect the other people within the country to ensure that their languages do not face neglect. All these attempts should encourage bilingualism in Canada due to the numerous settlers. Hence to promote multiculturalism, people should be allowed to use their languages.
