A crime can be termed as any behaviour or act that deviates from the overly accepted way of behaving, which is enshrined in the constitution. The constitution provides the basis on which to classify behaviors or acts as criminal activities. It is for these reasons that it is of common knowledge that certain acts can be considered as being crimes in certain countries and not in other countries. Crimes are more often determined by the community affected. For example, abortion and prostitution is considered as crimes by some states and at the same time, other states have legalized such acts. It is therefore prudent to say that there exists a discrepancy on what is crime depending on where one comes from. This forms the basis of educating people on what governs their country, which do not necessarily apply in other countries. Despite this, there are some laws that are universally accepted, which cuts across the whole globe. This paper will therefore look in-depth on the implication of fighting crime and its effects on enhanced levels of technology. Crime is as old as mankind. No any known group of people, since time of immemorial existed without the rules and regulations that its people were supposed to abide by. Each community had its take on what was right and what was wrong. This created a large discrepancy, which led to establishment of laws governing the whole country aimed at creating a consensus on how such citizens were supposed to behave. With rules set forth, people are expected to abide by such regulations, making the law breakers face the consequences already established in their countries. To enforce such laws, the need of law enforcers plays a vital role in protecting the society from such people who can not abide by laws set forth. The law breakers are normally penalized using relevant laws like confinement with the aim of reforming such individuals. This notwithstanding, enforcement of such laws has not eliminated the probability of having law breakers. At times, lawbreakers take advantage of loopholes in the constitution to continue with their behaviour which is socially unacceptable. People commit crime for various reasons which include; environmental background, biological/genetically factors, social upbringing, reward and punishment factors as well as their peer group influence to mention but a few. This provides law enforcers to make of baiometric and other technologies to single and smoke out criminals. As a result, law enforcers are always on their toe to bar this kind of behaviour by being on the lookout for new trends in crime. As society becomes more educated, new methods of breaking the law keep on emerging. A good example is the current trend in cyber crime which is proving a bit difficult to apprehend the offenders. Police and other agents that assist in apprehending the offenders must therefore up their game in netting down such criminals and the only way they can achieve this is by making use of enhanced technology, which will aid them in curbing crime effectively and efficiently. Use of such technology will on the other side have effects on social policies, whereby, some people might feel their space being interfered with by the law enforcers. Some of these policies that severely affect citizens is the ones that affect their personal space and liberty. Crimes like cyber related ones may lead to private spying of messages sent from the phone and via internet which will interfere with the right to privacy. The future of fighting crime looks bright even if it will affect the social policies set forth. The crimes in some areas will definitely reduce but also in other areas, they might be on the rise. With enhanced technology like CCTV, it has become easier for law enforcers to quickly determine the exact location where the crime takes place as well as having first hand evidence when they take such criminals to court. Tracking of criminals by use of devices like mobile phones or internet location is an effective way of apprehending offenders with minimized chances of such criminals escaping the police trap. The burden of proof has become easier unlike yester years when criminals were able to find themselves free again, due to lack of adequate and relevant evidence. Current technology makes it easier and ideal to proof guiltiness and innocence without wastage of time, and with enhanced precision rate. On the other hand, there is likely hood of there being an upsurge in cyber related crime since no specific laws have been set collaboratively by all countries in the world to aid combating this kind of crime. Most cyber criminals are taking advantage and refuge in countries that are not likely to expose them to law enforcers. Such countries lack the policies and laws on cyber criminals and also are challenged in terms of having current technology to net such criminals. Cyber crime is not very old and there existed few laws to punish such offenders. Some countries have been forced to ban use of fake phones as well as mandatory registration of their sim card. These are some of the measures that are being adopted to reduce cyber related crime. Though other crimes might be on the decrease, cyber crime will be on the rise until such a time when policies encompassing the whole globe will be enacted and enforced by all. Most people are currently being defrauded through internet and mobile phone, making it difficult for law enforcers to pursue such criminals more so, when they are from distant countries, outside their jurisdiction.
