Immigration is an important part of social, economic and population growth in countries. This is contrary particularly to the misleading and mythical information about the impact of immigrants on economies of the recipient countries. Canada is one of the countries known for its favorable and open immigration policies. Despite the criticism it has faced for its generosity on immigrants, Canada still accepts immigrants from different countries. This leads to the begging question, does Canada enjoy direct benefits from immigrants that make it impossible for the country to keep its borders closed to immigrants? Therefore this is research will explore reasons that make Canada continue accepting immigrants, the social and economic impacts of immigrants to Canada, factors that make Canada the destination for immigrants and finally the potential adverse effects that immigration has on Canada.
Problem Statement
There has been significant misleading information about the impact of immigrants on economies of the recipient countries. Opponents of immigration argue that immigrants steal jobs and other opportunities from locals (Amoyaw & Abada, 2016). This has forced some countries to close their borders or restrict the entry of immigrants. Canada has faced criticism for its generosity on immigrants, but it still accepts immigrants from different countries. Does Canada enjoy direct benefits from immigrants that make it impossible for the country to keep its borders open to immigrants?

Hypothesis
The economy of Canada thrives on immigrants. Canada exploits non-documented workers by paying them mean wages (DeVaro, 2014). Canada has the best social, economic, and political environment that attracts immigrants from different parts of the world.
Factors for Immigrations to Canada
People leave their home countries to settle in a foreign country for a variety of reasons. The reason for immigration is one thing, and the choice of the host country is a different thing altogether. There are various factors that immigrants consider when choosing a host country. Canada has become an attractive pole for immigrants from around the world who are looking for a host country that will give them good opportunities (Corey, 2018). This is because of the numerous social and economic benefits that are available in the country.
Social Benefits
One of the social benefits that influence immigration to Canada is the free basic healthcare known as “HealthCanada.” This is a free medical treatment that is available to all the Canadian Citizens as well as those with permanent resident status. This affordable healthcare service attracts immigrant to the host country since it is available even to the new residents. All that an immigrant is required to do is to apply for the card as soon as one has set up home in the country.
The reach culture and cultural diversity in the country is another factor that makes immigration thrive in Canada. It is noteworthy that 20 percent of the total population of Canada is foreign-born Canadians.
This kind of multiethnic diversity a rich culture and culture diversity is guaranteed. Religious freedom encourages immigrants to settle in Canada where they anticipate less or no cases of social categorization. Political and religious freedom is another social benefit factor that promotes and encourages immigration to Canada. Canada is one of the mature world democracies with considerable political stability. This has largely contributed to the country becoming a choice of destination for immigrants from all over the world. About two-third of the total population of Canada are Christians. About 3.2% of the nation's total populations are Muslims, while Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Jews represented 1.5%, 1.4%, 1.1%, and 1% respectively. Approximately 34 of Canada’s total population are not affiliated with any religion. (Statistics Canada, 2013). This is evidence of the appreciable degree of religious tolerance in the country making it attractive to the immigrants.
Economic Benefits
In addition to Social benefits, there are also various economic benefits that make Canada attractive to immigrants. These include; employment benefits after retirement, job opportunities, simple immigration rules, excellent business growth, and personal growth opportunities. Availability of job opportunities in Canada is one of the factors that contributed to the country registering a big number of immigrants from all over the world.
