For intensification to take place, cells are the most fundamental for the process of growth to take place. Stem cells are believed to have potential to develop into many different cell types in the body during early life and growth. In some situations, they are believed to serve internal repair system as well as dividing fundamentally without limit to replenish other cells as long as the person or on the other hand the animal is still living. Stem cells are different from other cells since when a stem cell divides, each new cell is capable to remain a stem cell or become a different type of cell with a specific specialized function like red blood cell, the brain cell or even a muscle cell.
Different from other cells stem cells have their uniqueness which make them feasible to be distinguished from other cells it`s due to, two fundamental distinctiveness. For one they are special in a manner that they are unspecialized cells capable of renewing themselves through cell division even after a long time of inactivity (Viegas, 2003). Exclusivity of the stem cells is the fact that when they are in experimental conditions, they can be stimulated to become tissue or on the other hand become specific cells but with extraordinary purpose. Stem cells are fundamental in some organs like bone marrow and gut since they are useful in repairing and replacing worn out and the damaged tissues but this do not happen to all organs since in organs like the pancreas and the heart, they are believed to divide under specific conditions.
Scientists are special personnel`s in the universe as they come up with sole things every time a research is done. In recent research, it have been discovered that stem cells can be derived from human embryos and them be taken to the laboratory where growth takes place. The cells used in these studies are special cells created for reproductive purposes through in vitro fertilization procedures.
Stem cells are crucial for living organisms for several reasons. The blastocyst which are three to five days embryo, their inner cells give rise to the entire body of the organism as well to the sperm eggs, lungs, skin, heart and other tissues in the body. The stem cell are believed to act as replacement cells but this only happen in adult tissues like the brain, bone marrow and muscle of the adult tissues while the discrete population of adult stem cells generate the replacements of the lost cells through the normal wear and tear or even at the time of diseases.
Stem cells are not only special for their ability of changing but when they are given unique regenerative aptitudes; they offer new potentialities for treating diseases such as heart diseases and diabetes which have become the worlds plague. Though this process is happening, much work remains to be done indoors in the laboratories and clinics to in order to understand how this cells are used and more so the use of cell for cell-based therapies to treat disease, which on the other hand is referred to as regenerative or reparative medicine.
Laboratories have become crucial mechanisms been used by scientist since they use them as their engine which enables them to learn more about the cells each an every single day. These make it possible for scientists to screen new drugs and develop systems that are used to study normal growth as well measures of detecting the courses of birth defects. The research based on stem cells has advanced and people have discovered how an organism develops from a single cell and how cell are capable of replacing damaged cells in adult organisms. For this fact, stem cell research have become the most fascinating areas of existing biology and due to the expanding fields of scientific enquiry, there has been many scientific questions raising from this issue since there are numerous inventions.
The three general properties of the stem cells are the once which make them to differ from other kind of cells in the body. The general properties are believed to be capable of dividing and renewing themselves for long phases as they are unspecialized and therefore there are capable of giving rise to specialized cell types. Different from other cells, stem cells are capable of dividing themselves for long phases. Unlike blood cell, nerve cells or the muscle cells which don`t have the capability of replicating themselves, stem cells have this potential to replicate proliferate. Laboratory proliferate stem cells are believed to capitulate millions of cell since they are left there for a long period and if the resulting cells continue to be unspecialized, like the parent stem cells the cells are believed to be capable of long stem self renewal.
According to (Panno, 2005), the most challenging thing that scientists are facing is asking themselves why the embryonic stem cells proliferate for a year or even more than a year in the laboratories without differentiating while most non-embryonic stem cells cannot. On the other hand, a question on what are the factors in living organisms that are capable of regulating stem cell proliferation and self renewal and the only way to understand how proliferation is synchronized during normal embryonic development or during the abnormal cell division is by answering the two stated questions.
In so doing, there will be an answer to why cancer develops and also scientist will be able to grow both embryonic and non-embryonic stem cells more efficiently in the laboratory. Scientists have generated great interest in stem cells since the stem cells remain unspecialized making the scientist do research for decades in order to learn and be aware of what takes place in the stem cell. For instance, it is believed that it took two decades for them to learn how to grow human embryonic stem cells in the laboratory by following how the stem cells were doing in a mouse.
The field of explaining how stem cells work is what has become the great challenge to scientist hence they refer to them as unspecialized. The essential property of a stem cell is that they don`t have specific structures that allow them to perform any unique roles. For instance, stem cells do not work with its associates to pump blood through the body as well it can carry oxygen molecules through the bloodstream. Differentiation is another tome which is used to describe the stem process where stem cells give rise to specialized cells and unspecialized stem cells give rise to specialized cells. During these process, the cell is believed to undergo several stages where they become more specialized at each an every given step (Marzilli, 2007).
Stem cell research have been a challenge to many scientists and recently, they have begun to be more aware of the signals inside and outside cells which engender each stem of the differentiating procedure.
