Shabti Doll
Different cultural items were used in ancient times to serve integral roles in both the lives of the living and the dead. The cultural work selected is the Shabti doll, a figure of a human body at the top and its lower body in the form of a mummy. The time period that this cultural work was used is between 1292 and 1189 B.C. (Dynasty 19). It is also said to have been made from faience material (Borowik, 2020). Additionally, the Shabti figures were mainly used in funerals as they were retrieved from ancient Egyptian tombs. The Shabti figures were made to act as servants of the underworld. According to ancient Egyptian beliefs, there was life after death, an indication that people had to continue working.
