The study found out that, certain barriers in terms of “human factors” – such as the conflicts and constrains in the nurses’ schedule – could be circumvented by careful planning, consideration, and greater allowance of resources (e.g. letting the nurses decide on their own schedule). However, what’s lacking from the study is the fact that barriers and limitations differ from context to context. Perhaps, one of the greatest challenges in implementing the hourly-rounding initiative are resources. Resources (energy, money, manpower, etc.) differ in every health-care organization and not all can afford to accommodate a transformation/intervention like this without incurring too much cost. Following from this, it is apparent that in order to implement this efficiently, it is always important to note that the constraints in one’s resources should always be considered.
