Therefore, health care is not an exclusive. Over the years, there been has a lot of changes and development with the healthcare incorporating information technology into its system. The purpose of this paper is to explain the significance or position of information technology for health care administration. Goal The aim of the paper is to discuss the importance of using Health Care Information Technology. At the end of the paper one would have developed an understanding of how technology assists healthy practitioners. Method A number of past studies that have been conducted in the field have been used to complete this paper. The Secondary research method has been used in getting a primary understanding into the research study. The secondary sources used are peer review journals from credible sources. Literature review Jerry, & Albert, (1998) points out that information technology play a vital role in the cost control as well as innovation. They also asset that implementation of technology will help ease work for healthy care practitioners hence minimizing the errors that arise because of fatigue. On the other hand, research conducted by Reiboldt, (2012) reveals that the effectiveness of healthy care services in hospitals can enhanced if technology is implemented in the healthy care system. Besides, Reiboldt states that hospitals which implement technology in the healthy care system are likely to reduce the problem of shortage of healthy care practitioners. Then again, Wolper, (2010) points out in his book that Health Care Information Technology can be of benefit in the health care administration because the responsibility of managing delivery systems will be replaced by technology. Use of information in the field of nursing is commonly known as nursing informatics. This entails using information technologies to support health care practice in the field of education, research as well as administration. Some of the technologies used in the health care system include; electronic health record, computerized provider order entry, clinical decision support system, radio frequency identification, automated dispensing machines and electronic materials management and interoperability. The size of an organization plays a crucial part in the enactment of technology. For instance, before implementing any technology in a health care system, the organization should take into consideration of the number of patients, MIS budget and number of employees (Jerry & Albert, 1998). Health Care Information Technology Health care information technology is commonly regarded as the fastest developing section in the healthcare business. It is measured by investment activity as well as incomes, and is among the most rapidly growing sections in the whole US economy. Therefore, there are some prospects for HCIT in relation to software development, research, education as well as practices (Reiboldt, 2012). To begin with, Health care information technology continues to attract noteworthy attention from business investors and it is evident that the number of investors in HCIT will continue to rise in the subsequent years. This is promising for both education and research centers because information technology as an industry segment is significant for the young or coming generation that will frequently rely on technology to accomplish their daily activities. Besides, its development is likely to enhance innovation towards software development (Reiboldt, 2012). Development of HCIT improves practices in health care industry. This is because HCIT is mostly centered on improving clinical as well as financial effectiveness within the whole healthcare delivery system. In addition, the health care organization will not be viable without the benefits or advantages that come with developments in technology as well as innovation. Then again, education and healthcare quality improvements have been noted and one day in the near future, the industry system offering healthcare services will be economically feasible due to the efficiencies created by technology resources (Reiboldt, 2012). Significance of Health information technology In the healthcare system, information technology plays a crucial role in ensuring accuracy in all health related activities. Initially, information technology served the purpose of insurance transactions, basic billing and storing of patient records in the health care sector.
