The UK Approaches to Meet Patient Needs
The UK government had considered several approaches to meet patient needs. To reduce health-related diseases and disorders the government has put in place guidelines on smoking, alcohol use, diet and physical activity (Khunti, Baker, Rumsey & Lakhani, 1999). The approach has worked for many citizens, especially those in a position to read. The method has worked out in many parts of the country and to be specific in different States. Since the introduction of the guidelines, the rate of smoking and alcohol use has reduced in cities and major towns. Over 50 percent of the adults follow at least two of the instructions ("Health matters: obesity and the food environment," 2019). It means that there is a lapse in following the rules because some people belong to the lower socio-economic groups while others lack education. The two factors have challenged the government approach to meet the patient need to be healthy.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. A research was conducted to determine if people were willing to change their behavior for their good. The initiative of supporting people to change behavior would be a success even if the resources are scarce. Moreover, another approach that has been used to determine if some patient are active in managing their health while others are reluctant. A concept known as patient activation has helped solve this research problem. People with high level of activation and health literacy can talk to and make them understand while the ones with low levels of activation are directed in coaching which has been effective in changing the behavior of a person. For those with issues on reading, the government has produced good more straightforward texts for easy understanding by all citizens.
The new public health roles have gained a lot of support from local authorities through their full support in the implementation of the guidelines. Many areas have been set aside by the government for extensive health training grounds for all people especially the unhealthy. In this open health training programs, patient is advised, motivated by practical people who have gone through the same training and succeeded in the adoption of healthier lifestyles ("Health matters: obesity and the food environment," 2019). The use of well-trained health care representatives have come together with community health champions to sensitize the peer groups, the aged to be involved in physical exercises to reduce the risk of being unhealthy. The approach is cost-effective, and it has proven itself to be successful.
The ability to engage people in their health talking to them and also listening to them. The health doctors have been trained talk to the ill-health and explain to them the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Poverty has been a challenge since making the approach work becomes impossible since it impacts cognitive reasoning. The government has provided for the poor to boost the capacity and be actively involved in managing their health. The fundamental principles that have driven the UK to meet each approach include: The policy of coordination and integration of care has been applied when the UK put guidelines on smoking, physical activities and drinking of alcohol.
The initiative has helped people to become better people since they no longer feel powerless or vulnerable (Khunti, Baker, Rumsey & Lakhani, 1999). Secondly, information and education in the approach of creating awareness have revolutionized the need to live healthy living. The UK government has used its health officers to generate awareness to the public and also educated the willing patients. Moreover, the principle of physical comfort has driven the UK to provide training areas for the people. The training grounds supported by local authorities and the community to help the patient in doing exercises to reduce the chances of being obese or suffer from heart diseases. They also offer pain management, and he also assisted with activities.
Emotional support coincides with the way the government has offered free advice, training and clinical officers who are ready to listen to patients. Emotional support is vital to patients for it gives the morale and strength needed to continue living a healthy life. It also takes away fear and anxiety. These two factors are caused by illness and can be controlled or eliminated.
Sweden Key Approaches
The Sweden government has taken several approaches to meet various patient needs. It has centers that take care of the old and also provide for them. Due to the legal structure which has allowed many 21 counties to fund and provide hospital and physician services (Burström, 2017). The move by the county following the stipulated laws has led to hospital and health centers to be equipped and well-funded. Physician services are also offered to who are in need. On the other 290 municipal facilities are responsible for funding and provide for the community at large. The funds go into funding activities to help patients exercise.
The government has initiated different health awareness government projects aimed at ensuring that every citizen is aware of her rights towards getting the right treatment. Educating the public over the years and making it simple for those who do not understand their language. Simple texts and drafts will help everyone. Knowledge is power, and when patients live in despair and darkness when it becomes to health services, then the Sweden government will have failed. The use of “Esther cafes’ by the government carried out every municipality every year giving the patients chance to speak of their experiences in the health services offered(Gray, Winblad & Dana O. Sarnak, 2013). Another approach used by the government to reach as many people as possible is “strategy day” in which all parties, i.e., doctors clinical officers, managers, Esther coaches, etc. to team build and come up with the possible the solutions to problems.
Lastly, the Swedish government has steered a committee comprising of the chiefs from every municipality, hospitals and all available primary care centers. The aim is to discuss and address the challenges faced by patients. The move has helped unfold those who do not want to attend hospitals and exercises due to lack of funds. The information is collected and follow up are made to get all those in need of treatment and taken to home cares, and they are provided for.
The principle that gives people the right to access care ("The Eight Principles of Patient-Centered Care · Review", 2015). With the massive funding from counties and municipalities, it has made it easier for citizens to access medical services from hospitals and healthcare centers (Gray, Winblad & Dana O. Sarnak, 2013). As a citizen and being able to access medical services from all medical centers in the country has been made easier. The principal meets the approach used by the government. Secondly on the principle of information and education in which the government has initiated programs and projects to create awareness to the public and let it be known that every person has the right to understand the stand of government on the issue of health services to all ci...
