Research Paper Instructions:

We continue to build towards developing a draft journal article that demonstrates your understanding and ability to engage in ethical analysis in relation to global health policy, practice, and research. The draft journal article – something suitable, for example, as an analysis piece for the Lancet or BMJ Global Health – will be your end goal; each assignment is building up the essential components of getting to this end goal.
Whether writing a journal article or an academic assignment, you should start by looking at the existing literature (academic and grey literatures) to see what has been written and what the current state of evidence/argument is in relation to your topic. In Methods and Approaches in Global Health Research (IHST 2010) and other global health courses, you have learned how to do a literature review and you will get the opportunity here to apply and practice this skill further here.
You should structure your assignment around answering the following questions directly:
1. What is your research question? [Developed in Assignment 1]
2. Describe your literature review search strategy, including the search terms used, databases searched, any inclusion/exclusion criteria, etc. 3. Using an accepted referencing system of your preference (e.g., MLA, Chicago, Vancouver, etc.), provide a list all of the relevant sources you found using your search strategy that directly address/relate to your research question.4. Pick out the 5-7 of the most important sources listed in question 3 and write a short paragraph (i.e., 2-5 lines) for each of the 5-7 sources detailing why/how it will play an important role in the analysis/argument you will subsequently develop in answering your research question.Word Limit: There is none – different topics will yield different results. Aim for quality and comprehensiveness. This literature review will help you to develop your detailed outline and the final research paper – so it is worth doing this well.Assessment Weight: This assignment is worth 20% of your course grade.Marking Criteria: You will be graded on your ability to (1) conduct a literature review, (2) present the findings of a literature review in an organized and clear fashion, (3) identify which sources will be important to building your analysis/argument and explaining in what way(s) they will be important, and (4) your ability to write in a clear and persuasive fashion without grammatical infelicities.

Free Movement of Healthcare Professionals
According to van Riemsdijk (2013), the free movement of professionals in the European Union is a major issues of concern, raising debates among diverse stakeholders. Notably, the problem is caused by the fact that countries with high salaries for health care workers never allow free movement of workers from poorer states. The provisions of the Regulation (EC) No. 883/2004 protect physicians to work in any member state without restrictions on their rights to provide services. However, there are certain limitations, for example, about issuing licenses or registration certificates under national laws. In this case, it would be logical to limit access of foreign health care professionals when there is sufficient workforce in the sector.
There are limited studies of the movement of healthcare professional. The literature review intends to provide a comprehensive picture of the current issues related to movement of professionals, and the future prospects for the movement of healthcare professionals in Europe. As van Riemsdijk (2013) argued, this will assist in the development of policy solutions to address its shortcomings. Moreover, it will also assist to identify factors that influence the volume and direction of such mobility in order to determine which groups are most at risk from a lack of access to healthcare specialists in their countries.
Styliani (2019) argued that with the right policies in place, there is much to gain from free movement of healthcare professionals. It is essential to find a balance in the free movement of healthcare professionals and ensures that regional healthcare services are optimized. Without proper and efficient policies, more professionals experience brain drain, which also affects their performance. However, having optimal policy measures is vital in enhancing quality of care and reducing staff turnover (Styliani, 2019). The healthcare sector can be optimized and perform better when free movement of professionals.
The current policies in the EU has imposed barriers on healthcare workers who would want to move into developed countries. The freedom of movement among healthcare workers can eliminate stresses and ensure that regional healthcare quality is optimized. Since the issue has drawn attention of policymakers and legislators, it is vital to have proactive measures to ensure that these concerns are addressed. Developed nations have an increasing demand for healthcare workers because of the growing needs of the population (van Riemsdijk, 2013). However, unless the hurdles imposed are addressed, it will be difficult for healthcare workers to enter into these countries. The movement must also be controlled in order to guarantee...
