What Makes an Effective Teacher Your Name Subject and Section Professor’s Name February 5, 2024 Being at the forefront of education, teachers have the responsibility not only to ensure the learning of the students but also to do it in such a way that it reflects the changes in the current times. Accordingly, in education, the significance of a positive classroom environment is paramount for fostering effective teaching and student success. Both studies and personal experience have shown that a supportive and inclusive learning community, where students feel accepted, seen, and valued, is instrumental in enhancing their educational journey. In line with this, the following sections of this paper delve into three fundamental strategies to cultivate such an environment: procedure, communication, and organization. Supported by peer-reviewed research, the succeeding discussions will underscore how these strategies contribute to creating a positive classroom atmosphere and are integral in nurturing healthy emotions and motivating students to learn, especially amidst the integral part of technological innovations in the learning process. Procedure Contrary to what most people would believe, one of the most critical aspects of the learning process is 'procedure creation.' Simply put, it is the creation of various learning procedures in teaching, assessing, and supplementing the pieces of information that the student learns. Accordingly, studies such as the one done by Bonna (2023) show that a well-structured classroom governed by clear and consistent procedures lays the foundation for a secure and predictable learning environment. The author's study has specifically identified how these could help reduce noise and other distractions for the student. Aside from this, structure (and the procedure used behind it) is essential in reducing anxiety and creating a safe space for students, as noted in the study by Hakimah (2023) on project-based learning. Such an environment allows students to understand what is expected of them, thereby boosting their confidence and prolonging their focus, especially considering the amount of distractions that are present in this technologically-driven world. Ultimately, this predictable routine for both the students and the teachers themselves minimizes confusion and stress, leading to a more emotionally stable and conducive environment for learning.
