MacDonalds Corporation, popularly known as Mickey D's, is a global leader in the service of hamburger fast food restaurants. The organization serves more than 70 million customers on a daily basis in more than 120 nations. The company was established in 1940 as a barbecue restaurant by MauriceMcDonaldand Richard. In 1948, they jointly organized this enterprise as a hamburger by employing the principle of production line. Mr. Ray Kroc joined the organization in 1955 as a franchise agent and subsequently purchased the enterprise from Macdonald brothers (Heller; 2011).
McDonald’s Company operates and franchises McDonald's restaurants in its worldwide restaurant Industry, these serves as a menu at various pricings, which provide value in 120 countries worldwide. As of Dec 31, 2012 among the 33,515 in 120 nations, 27,080 were either franchised or licensed, 3,930 were licensed to developmental licensees and 3,675 were licensed to foreign affiliates. On the other hand, 6,440 were operated by the organization. The menu in MacDonald enterprise includes cheeseburgers, hamburgers, Big Mac, various chicken sandwiches, Chicken McNuggets, French fries, Snack Wraps, salads, soft drinks, oatmeal, shakes, McFlurry desserts, soft serve cones, coffee and McCafe beverages (O’ Brien, 2012).
In recent times, sales at the world have continued to rise tremulously and therefore, increasing revenues. Sales in US and European market rose by 4.9pc while in Europe and 2.5% in other regions. Sales in USA were especially enhanced by the sale of coffee drinks. One of its menus the McRib, consisting of pickles, ground pork, onions and barbecue sauce in a roll has been greatly followed by its clients. The company first introduced the sandwich in 1981but subsequently removed it from its menu in 1990. It was brought back recently due to public demand.
In places where this product is available thorough the year such as UK, Russia, France, Europe and Australia, increased performance was recorded. Results were also strong in other parts of the world such as Australia, China, and Japan. A valuable menu and quality services, as well as renovations and drive thru options are assisting positive results in these parts. More recently, store sales that were open at least one month increased by 5.2pc from 3.9pc realized in USA and 4.9pc in Europe (Trotman, 2010).
