Final Deployment Considerations
Economic effects from the deployment of the new technology – vertical-axis wind turbine
The deployment of the new technology would result in a number of economic effects. These economic effects include: (i) Employment or job creation: it is notable that there is a correlation between the deployment of the new technology, vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT), and job creation. Several experts in the field of wind power would be employed in the manufacturing process of the new product. These people would also be responsible with conducting research aimed at improving the product greatly. Moreover, there would also be individuals charged with the task of marketing the new technology to the target audience. Furthermore, there would also be factory employees who will be employed in the production facility. There would also be supervisors, managers, wholesalers, as well as retailers involved. All these jobs would be created as a result of the deployment of the new technology. From installation of the VAWT products to maintenance, it would create many opportunities for employment (Alina, 2011).
(ii) Save people high costs of energy: the prices of natural gas and electricity have increased considerably in USA chiefly in the Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic states; extreme cold weather often drives demand for gas and electric heating to near-record levels. This usually costs consumers substantial amounts of money. The savings that vertical-axis wind turbine will provide consumers across the United States would most likely be in the millions, however, it could also be in tens of millions of dollars (Alina, 2011). (iii) Government would obtain revenue through taxation: through the deployment of the technology, it is anticipated that the government will collect taxes from the sales made by the company. It is projected that a total of 3,677 units of VAWT would be sold over the first 6 months each costing just $300; it would be priced inexpensively in order to increase market penetration and gain market share. Six months after deployment, total sales are expected to be $1,103,100. A certain percentage of this amount would be taxed by the government and provide revenue for the government.
Approaches to minimize the environmental impact
The new technology, vertical-axis wind energy, does not pollute at all considering that it does not release any toxic greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and neither does it destroy the environment. It is noteworthy that the product itself is aimed at generating electricity using wind energy, which is well known as a vital renewable source of energy. For homes in the United States, this product would be an essential alternative to the conventional sources of energy like fossil fuels (Gertner, 2013). The technology would be powered purely by wind, which is essentially a natural resource and is free. As such, no harmful gases would be released into the atmosphere through the use of the technology. Thus this new technology would play a significant role in regards to minimizing the environmental impact. The wind energy produced by this product would be produced again and again because it is plentiful. It is of note that wind energy is essentially the cleanest form of green energy and is utilized in a lot of countries, both developing and industrialized in fulfilling their electricity demands (Gertner, 2013).
