Middle Sexes: Redefining He and She is a 2005 TV documentary by Antony Thomas. It explores the issues of sex and gender, starting with transwomen enjoying the company of their friends at a nightclub. Throughout the film, different incidences of murder and kidnap have been highlighted. For example, the narrator shares the details of Gwen Araujo’s death. Gwen, a transwoman, was given tough time by her own companions.
Two other transwomen, Andrea and Calpernia, also speak about their community members who were brutally killed for being transgender. I admire Antony Thomas for this short film and his beautiful depiction of how sex is developed in the wombs. A lot of such stories have been discussed, making me and the entire society understand that being a transwoman is not one’s fault....
