1 Risks affecting active social, political, cultural and economic environment
The members noted that are there are several political risks that have affected social and cultural development in Ukraine. For example, the experts agreed that corruption in the country has hindered the efforts of the political elites to reform the post-totalitarian legal system. This has made the Ukrainian citizens to lack commitment in the attainment of their constitutional right to control and manage the issues of their state and local governments. Additionally, the members agreed that culture is vital in the development of a country because it guides the citizens along a particular path. 2 Threats to political stability and sustainability structure
All expertise explained that Ukraine has developed and implemented programs which are aimed at enabling the country to tackle corruption, reform the economy and establish a system of good governance. However, the member retaliated that the level of state capture and other political risks such as corruption are deep-rooted in Ukraine’s political systems. These factors promote the misuse and abuse of political power thus undermining the country’s democratic principles.
