For this paper, I have chosen two works of art that are at the different ends of the spectrums of creativity. One is a ceremonial dance curtain of the Chalatas, Ditidaht peoples from the year 1880-1895 while the other is a Roman stone and glass mosaic from 100 to 300 AD. Both works of art have been intricately and meticulously defined, and both have a very distinct art style that reflects the culture and the beliefs of the artists and the people they belonged to.
In the first piece of art, we can see that the artist utilized a contrast of colors which is blue and orange. It is very symmetrical as the wings of the bird are wonderfully drawn to encompass the whole canvass. We can see that much effort was put into drawing the lines smoothly and perfectly as the symbolism of animals such as the bird, the whale, and the dogs were imminent, which points to the importance of such animals in the lives of this culture.
As with all works, history, and culture play essential roles in the manifestation of these art pieces. The subject that we see portrayed in these works are things that their cultural values. In the curtain, simplicity...
