College Students Challenges in English Composition

College students face a large number of challenges during their first semester. For example, students have to adapt to dormitory life with their roommates because dormitory is not a private room, getting along with their roommates is the first step. Second, students should try to keep dormitory clean and organized. RA has the responsibility to control the whole floor organized and in order. If a student doesn't follow the rules of the dormitory, he or she may get kicked out of the dormitory. What's more, class registration is also a difficult work. Students must make their schedule online and they should talk with advisor for their schedule. Sometimes students may sign up for some early classes. Going to early classes is one of the biggest challenges in college life, cause getting out of bed is extremely hard especially in winter. Last but not least, college social is hard for some people. Some students are not studying college is their hometown, so making new friends is quite hard, especially for those who have never been to other towns before.

Their cultural backgrounds have allowed some students to explore their experience in English writing and how they can reconcile their cultural identity with an English identity. The English identity is utilized through applications of principles of the English composition. These elements include ideological and logical identities (Shen 93). Ideological identity focuses on the value systems that the person gained from their personal social and cultural background. Logical identity focuses on the natural way that a student can compose themselves and express their thoughts in writing.
Some students discovered that learning how to compose English is both a social and cultural experience. Guidelines for English composition contain values that are usually absent or contradictory to the values of other different societies. Most students of different cultural backgrounds discovered that they had to change their way of thinking to redefine some of the fundamental concepts and values that they learned individually throughout their life (Shen 94). The first rule in English composition is all about being yourself. The significance behind this rule is based on principles of safeguarding and promoting individuality within the country.
In the United States, students have to learn to internalize and accept the worlds Self and I as something wonderful. In literature and mostly composition classes, the students have to make the necessary changes to evaluate the social and literary content through lenses of historical and Marxist dialectical materialism (Shen 94). After the student understands the first rule of English composition, they can observe and comprehend the universe from the idealism perceptive.
