I am not aware of what the president, state senators, or representatives are doing to address the issues of sweatshops and funding for public universities. I do not see these subjects on any of the newer media sites. I am not interested in finding out what they are doing about these issues for the most part. I may not vote for them because of their positions. If it were election season and I had some idea of their position on the issues, I would probably do some additional research and then decide whether or not to vote for them. If they were doing something positive about the issues, these leaders would be on my voting list. I do not favor low salaries and risky working conditions in sweatshops, so if the leadership can do anything about it, I will be on board with them.
