Disconnection between Student and Teacher Cultural Background

Does the disconnect between student cultural background and teacher cultural background exist in your school experience (in elementary, secondary, or college year)? How can you bridge this disconnect?
Personal Background info:
Elementary school: 70% were from the same culture both teachers and students (Dominican culture), Mexican culture 10%, American culture10%, and African American 10%
No disconnect between the teachers and students due to us being from the same culture and those who weren't from the same culture connected well.
Secondary school: 70% were from the same culture both teachers and students (Dominican culture), Mexican culture 10%, and African American 20%
Students got along with different cultures teachers and students but the majority were more drawn to those within the same culture.
College: a variety of cultures and everyone connects no matter the culture and are exposed to the different culture daily.

There is a relative disconnect between student cultural background and teacher cultural background in elementary, secondary, and tertiary schools. 70% of the students in the elementary class share the same Dominican culture as the teacher. The remaining percentage of the student population is equally divided between the Mexican, American, and African American cultures. Consequently, there is a very little cultural disconnect between the teachers and students since most learners share the same culture with the teacher, and most of the students from the other three cultures connect well with the tutor.
