Haiti has been subjected to many challenges which has ultimately led their communities toward poverty and compromised food security. Their economy has greatly suffered from political unrest, and societal upheavals, causing a major breakdown of the agricultural sector. Without proper agricultural production, food is scarce and its distribution is reserved only for those who belong to the upper class. According to WFP (World Food Program), about a third of the population are in a state of emergency due to hunger. Rural areas are much more at risk for food insecurity, as the funding can only cater to a portion of the population in the urban areas. Millions of people need food aid and humanitarian action, but many organizations are barred from distributing essential goods and other vital aids.
The government is not able to sustain a support framework of operations due to political instability. Aside from this, the general poverty in Haiti has caused a lack of proper education and degeneration of culture.
