Most people have certain places where they go or visit frequently. The place can be a favorite restaurant, sporting arena, or a friend’s home. What is your favorite place? Can you recall the attributes of the place that make you feel welcome and secure? The environment influences our feelings, actions, and responses on daily basis. Just like adults, child development is affected by the environment. Children learn by constantly watching, listening, and emulating the way people act around them. A child is more likely to emulate behaviors and tendencies that arouse or satisfy their curiosity. In an attempt to understand the learning process in children, Fandakova and Gruber (2020) carried out a study on curiosity and interest, and their role in the learning process.
The study aimed at finding out how children and adolescents' memory relates to their curiosity and interest to learn. The participants of the study were children and adolescents, aged 10-14 years from the Max Plank Institute of Human Development in Berlin, Germany. To achieve the objective of the study, the age differences between children and adolescents were used as dependent variables while the information prediction errors (IPEs) score, participants' age, post-answer interest rating, and curiosity ratings were used as the independent variables.
