1 Where/ How does your occupation fit into the Army casualty care system? What tasks or services do you think you will provide during LSCO (Large Scale Combat Operations)? a. If you do not know your occupation, assume you fill the occupation you want to do.

As a Registered Nurse in a surgical unit within an Army hospital, my occupation will serve as a critical component in the Role 2 and Role 3 medical facilities during Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO). My skills allow me to serve well in these roles, the last level in a tactical environment, where a nurse can perform surgeries to control damage, preventing death (Gurney et al., 2025). My primary responsibilities will include providing perioperative nursing care for damage control surgeries, managing complex wound care for noncompressible torso hemorrhage (NCTH) cases, and supporting the administration of whole blood transfusions that are essential within the critical "thirty-six minutes" timeframe (Gurney et al., 2025). My skills will also allow me to perform prolonged casualty care (PCC) management, where casualties may need to be held for extended periods before being taken to the operating room. Expertise in sterile technique, patient monitoring, and post-operative care will be vital in maintaining the surgical capability that these roles facilities require, especially given that surgical teams function like "tank crews," where surgical operations involve different expertise.
