PART ONE
Introduction
The proposal is for network design and internet connectivity for SOHO Corporation’s two buildings in a large office park. The goal of the project is to establish a reliable and cost-effective network infrastructure that supports the organization’s needs and addresses future growth and scalability needs. The project will address network infrastructure requirements, internet connectivity, WiFi and client device support, redundancy and high availability, and cost considerations.
Network Infrastructure Requirements
Physical Media Connectivity
Physical media connectivity is the means through which data is sent from the source to the destination, which in this case is from Building A to Building B. Fiber optics, a thin, flexible glass or plastic cable, is the most appropriate connectivity media. This cable is preferred because it has better transmission and can be transmitted over long distances. At higher bandwidths, the cable has signals traveling through fiber, has less loss, and is secure from electromagnetic interference (Rybakov, 2022). The fiber optic cable will connect the two buildings through a ditch dug between, which will later be covered.

Subnetting
The Class B address allocated to SOHO Corporation is 172.16.0.0/16. There are two buildings, which means that two subnets are required. The formula for identifying a subnet is:

In particular, a class c’s address standard subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. According to the formula, 2 to the power of n cannot be a whole number mathematically, which means that the value of n should be assumed such that 2n is either greater than or equal to 2. Therefore, we will assume that n = 2 and n2 = 4, meaning that there are four subnets. In this scenario, n will be the number of borrowed bits from Class C host portion subnet mask and the new subnet masks becomes 255.255.255.172. Since the subnet mask will end in 172, the block size for each subnet will be 64 and range subnets will be:

Network Architecture
A wireless router will be placed in Building A, which will be directly connected to the Internet Service Provider (ISP) through fiber optic cable. From the point of entry, the networking will include cables to desktop computers and wireless through Wi-Fi enabled devices such as smartphones and smartphones. Accordingly, from the point of entry, the company will use fiber optic cable on a distance of 1km to Building B, where there will be placed another wireless router. Consequently, cabling will be done in the building to connect desktop computers from the point of entry (Rybakov, 2022). Wireless connectivity will be available for the Wi-Fi enabled devices which will connect to the router in the building.
SOHO Corporation is expecting to register growth, which means that it will need to scale the network. The Cisco model addresses the growth requirements of a business especially those that need to expand within the same city but in different sites. Accordingly, the network will need to support exchange of various traffic such as data, email, IP telephony, and video application. The network will also consider enterprise business devices that needs to be operational 100% of the time. Outages should be avoided because of the potential harm to the business operations.
