Reflection of Course Concepts
One key lesson is that healthcare professionals and the healthcare industry, in general, must proactively embrace technology to improve the future of healthcare. Technological innovation remains one of the greatest forces of change that will continue transforming the healthcare industry (Shi & Singh, 2017). Health practitioners must work hand-in-hand with technology because technology will continue evolving, and we can only improve the healthcare system if healthcare professionals align with technological innovation. One key area of technological innovation that will apply to my professional discipline is telehealth and the concept of delivering healthcare at home rather than in the hospital. As Gibbons and Shaikh (2017) reveal, future hospitals will bear little resemblance to current hospitals, and part of this could be attributed to technological innovations that allow patients to receive care outside of a traditional hospital setting. The trend of hospital-at-home models is rapidly rising, and I believe I should be part of this change to ensure that my professional practice thrives.
