Patients Periodontally involved patients have conditions that affect tissues around the teeth. This leads to adverse effects such as pocket depths in the gums. The majority of those affected are adults with a small percentage of children. Pocket depths are majorly caused by bacteria emanating from the plague. It irritates the gums resulting in inflammation and therefore pockets form. It is important to note that pocket depths are not limited to any race or gender and therefore affect individuals on a global level. However, treatment and procedures can help reduce the depths of the pockets. Intervention It is important to eliminate bacteria to achieve a reduced pocket depth.
