Elderly falls in care facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes have become common events in healthcare settings which may lead to severe injuries, loss of independence and sometimes life. This is serious concern about the quality of care being offered to patients as well as patient outcomes (López-Soto et al, 2016).
The number of falls at Winter Garden hospital also raises concerns hence the need for reviewing the available literature to develop and evidence-based practice that will help in reducing the number of elderly falls within the facility. Some of the interventions that have been implemented include, reviewing patient medications, and vitamin D supplementation, assistive technologies such as special bed or chair alarms as well as interventions to the social environment whose target is the staff and organizational system (Cameron et al., 2018).
