Treatment Location-categorical -“student recreational center.”
The frequency of use of the student recreational center is rated on an ordinal scale as 1 if the student spends less than 1 hour, to 5 if the student spends more than 15 hours.
The frequency of use of the recreational facilities, including Outdoor Pools, Fitness Zone, Indoor Jogging Track, MatArena Multi-Activity Court, Ridge-Rock Climbing, Gymnasium, Racquetball Court, Artificial Turf Field, Studios, Outdoor and Oasis Wellness Center was rated in an ordinal scale using 1 for never to 5 for very often.
The participation in the student recreational center programs was rated using an ordinal scale with a rate of 0 for did not participate or 1 for did participate this semester.
The body mass index was calculated, and the resulting number is interval data.
The experience of the somatic symptoms was rated using an ordinal scale with 0 for not at all to 4 for very much.
The overall health was assessed via Global Health Scale from the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS). This uses an ordinal scale with 1 as poor to 5 as excellent.
Mental health, including depression, anxiety, overall well-being, and social support mechanisms, were rated using an ordinal scale with 1 for never to 5 for almost always.
Stress was assessed using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and was rated using an ordinal scale with 0 for never to 4 for very often.
Lastly, sleep was assessed using Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and was rated using an ordinal scale from 1 for not at all to 5 for very much.
Preference - categorical “user of student recreational center” and “non-user of student recreational center.”

The population of Interest for the Study

The participants are undergraduate students, ages 18 and above, who have a membership with the student recreational center.

Sample

The total number of samples is 540.
The female participants comprise 65.6%, the male participants comprise 33.3%, and all the other genders, including the transgender people, comprise less than 2% of all the participants.
