It should be neatly typed and ready for someone to implement. Samples of Focus Group Protocols have been attached Program: 4. Program plan to decrease tobacco use among college students. Brief Program Description: Tobacco Free Tennessee is launching a cessation program to help current tobacco users quit. This 8 week program will consist of an hour-long weekly class where participants are provided with information, support, and options for CDC recommended nicotine replacement. The target population will be 30 student tobacco users. The educational component of the class is based on the Stages of Change Model which moves participants from precontemplation to maintenance. The cessation groups will be limited to 6 participants per group. 5 groups will be facilitated 2020. Process objectives: • Program staff will conduct 5 cessation groups of 6 students each meeting one hour per week over 8 weeks. • Program staff will recruit participant groups via weekly e-mails to University staff. • Program staff will send daily motivational e-mails to program participants during the 8 week cessation program. Impact objectives: Affective / Attitudes • By the end of the program at least 80% of the target population will indicate that they feel confident about their ability to quit using tobacco • By the end of the program at least 80% of the priority population will indicate that quitting tobacco will improve their lives • By the end of the program at least 80% of the priority population will indicate that they aren’t afraid to quit using tobacco Cognitive / Knowledge • By the end of the program at least 80% of the priority population will o Be able to list 3 risks of using tobacco o Be able to list 3 personal benefits to quitting tobacco o Understand the difference in the different nicotine replacement options and how they are used o Be able to select a nicotine replacement option that they think will work for them. Behavior • By the end of the program at least 80% of the program participants will stop using tobacco. Outcome objective: • Reduce upper respiratory illness among target population by 10% by 2022.
