Stakeholder Analysis
Evidence-based projects require a careful analysis of the stakeholders that would act and be affected by such interventions. This allows the nurse manager to implement the intervention with the least risk possible and the greatest efficiency. In this first section, the author would provide an overview of the stakeholders affected by the PICO question.
Patients and Families
The patients affected in this case include adult patients (18 years old and above) who are at risk of falls in the acute care setting in the nurse's organization. Expressly, this would be limited to the medical-surgical floor.
Accordingly, the families affected directly refer to the patient's loved ones who take care of him (whether blood-related or not) and his immediate relatives (blood-related).
Administrators
The administrators included in this EBP includes the nursing administrator, IT supervisor, and the Hospital's administrative department.
First, the nursing administrator is a stakeholder in this project because it includes an intervention that could directly affect the operational workflow of the nurses within the medical-surgical floor. Additionally, any changes or improvements that would result in would affect the entire operations of the healthcare providers.
Second, the IT supervisor (either from the Hospital or from the third-party organization) should also be considered as a stakeholder in this intervention because of his role and importance in the process. During the implementation of the intervention, several technological changes would be added, including the (1) addition of surveillance cameras, (2) the installation of databases, and (3) the processing of "fall reports."
Finally, the hospital administration is another important stakeholder because any changes made in one of its departments would directly affect their performance according to the principle of command responsibility. Thus, any EBP intervention also increases the risks on their part, which makes them an important stakeholder.
Healthcare Providers
The healthcare providers most directly affected by this project are nurses who provide care to patients in the medical-surgical floor. This includes any nurse professionals and interns who would directly be affected by the EBP intervention.
Regulators
The primary regulators, in this case, would be (1) the administrative board in the Hospital and (2) the nursing organization to whom the nurse professionals belong.
On the one hand, the administrative board of the Hospital is deemed to be the primary regulator since it functions to approve or deny the EBP intervention or any part of the proposal. It is their approval, which gives the public the idea that such intervention is "safe" and that any issues in the execution would directly affect them CITATION Duf20 \l 1033 (Duffy, Culp, Marchessault, & Olmsted, 2020).
On the other hand, the nurse organization affected in this case would be the professional nursing organization to whom most of the nurses belong to (i.e., American Associate of Critical Care Nurses). This is because these nursing organizations serve to provide specific guidelines on how to execute EBP interventions.
