Most ICU settings have reported cases of Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), which causes mortality and morbidity and increases overall healthcare costs (Ladbrook et al., 2021). Raising the head of the bed to a small degree could offer a simple and non-invasive solution, which has been supported by preliminary evidence to be a critical part of VAP prevention bundles (Lian et al., 2024).
