The body is a complex machine that is governed by chemical and electrical interactions. In the article titled “How could Covid-19 and the body’s immune response affect the brain?
”, the author states that a person’s immune system activity in the body may have implications on mental health and behavior (Orenstein, 2021). As such when we use drugs, especially in a non regulated manner, it can affect the function of our organs, and weaken our immune systems. Drugs have a physiological effect on the body, and when doses are not taken into account, it can damage important body parts such as the kidneys and liver act to cleanse the blood and counteract the effects of substances. Drug addiction can cause a weakened immune system, and in extreme cases, affected individuals lose the ability to fight of infections, resulting to death.
Two strategies that can be used for reducing drug use and enhancing personal immunity is by not opting for drugs when there is an alternative, and using natural supplements for added nutrition.
