Change Proposal in Health Care
Healthcare demands professional collaboration in every step meant towards the improvement in outcomes in the delivery of high-quality care for patients. Patients' safety should be a priority in all health care facilities. In this case, nurses and patient care technicians should collaborate and work against all the odds to improve and manage high-quality services for their patients (Wojciechowski, Pearsall, Murphy & French, 2016). Although the professionals play different duties in the treatment and recovery process of their clients, they should join hands and align their work to achieve the best outcomes for their clients. On the other hand, the professional should be ready for the implementation of any changes in their line of duty and operation. For instance, introducing a working schedule to ensure efficiency in the implementation of work, job satisfaction, safety, and quality health care for patients is ideal (Wojciechowski, Pearsall, Murphy & French, 2016). While the approach might have some underlying benefits like time management and substance of quality care, some professionals might face some challenges in adapting to the new plan. However, the opposing forces should not overdue the expected benefits. Health care professionals should embrace the proposed changes to reduce incidences such falls and ensure improvement and maintenance of patients' safety and care.
The proposed changes apply to effective interpersonal relationships between the nurses, patient care technicians, and the consent of the patients in the involvement. Then professionals should understand that the plan is meant to improve the quality of services and safety of the patients (Wojciechowski, Pearsall, Murphy & French, 2016). On the other hand, they will benefit through the achievement of the job's specifications and satisfaction. Seeing clients happy after the delivery of a service is an ultimate achievement nurse should consider fitting into the proposed changes. Although the exercise might be hard to implement, the professionals should find the health of the safety of their patients, especially in the reduction of falls among all ages in the admitted populations (Wojciechowski, Pearsall, Murphy & French, 2016). Also, the physicians should note that all patients are at the risk of falling and take the necessary measures in prevention. In addition, the institution of the changes will aid in curbing the problem of different health professionals colliding with similar patients for various roles. This issue results in inefficiency in the delivery of healthcare since they cannot perform their services at the same time and yield the desired outcomes (Wojciechowski, Pearsall, Murphy & French, 2016). Although the stipulated change might raise the challenge of coping with the given schedule, patient care technicians should make every possible effort to achieve the necessary changes and enhance the delivery of quality health services.
Considering the challenges faced in implementing and adapting to changes, the nurses and patient care technicians should check into the Kurt Lewin's change model to know the difference between driving and restraining forces, and the impact of both in health care. The opposing forces are working for and against the projected change, but they are not equal (Kadian-Baumeyer, 2020). In this case, health professionals have the opportunity of choosing between options. Should they chose reluctance and continue working in the constraints of a colliding environment, or should they push for the force in support of the proposed change to achieve the anticipated improvement in the delivery of their services? Should the health care professionals continue watching their patients suffer injuries from falls and also the reciprocation of treatment procedures due to poor planning at the expense of instituting the change to help them?
The professionals should adopt the innovation to enhance the maximum outcome in the provision of the best results in health care. They have the opportunity of using the steps in the analysis and conquering of the underlying force in the opposition of the change (Kadian-Baumeyer, 2020). For instance, if the patients resist the move by refusing to wake up, they can be educated on the significance of the exercise since they are most likely to gain many benefits from the plan than the health care professionals. Lewins' model is made to help not only health care professionals but also other organizations in overcoming the opposing forces in innovation towards achievement.
According to the Model, the essential professionals affected by the incoming change should collaborate to agree on one viable decision. The opinions of the significant stakeholders matter in the final implementation, and they should be considered to ensure efficiency even after the institution. The approach analyzes the force in various perspectives to enhance the overcoming and achievement of the anticipated changes. First, the model investigates the balance of power between the forces to check the possibility of attaining the set targets and the effort required (Kadian-Baumeyer, 2020). Second, the model institutes a strategy of identifying the key stakeholders in the field affected by the decision (Kadian-Baumeyer, 2020). This idea ensures the consideration of every key stakeholder before implementation. Taking account of the stakeholders creates a loop to know those who are supporting or opposing innovation in the...
