Health and Wellbeing Resource Analysis Report: Grow Your Mind Schools Program
Overview of the Resource
The "Grow Your Mind" Schools Program is an awarded and evidenced-based social and emotional well-being undertaking for pre-primary and primary learners. It provides a service that can be accessed through a subscription to get a list of more than 1,500 tools and resources to promote positive students’ mental health at school (Grow Your Mind, 2023). It also involves employing videos, podcasts, animations, and even a reflection journal to make sure it addresses every learning modality. This means that even if teachers have limited time for planning, they always have time for well-being lessons, and teaching them will take as short as 5 minutes during the entire class period, which is very convenient.
The program is based on four research frameworks: positive psychology, social and emotional learning, public health, and neuroscience (Grow Your Mind, 2023). These positive psychology tenets offer the conceptual framework for the present undertaking of building and enhancing well-being literacy among members of the school community, assisting teachers in reminding themselves to focus on their own well-being and fostering a positive school climate among all school community members.
Analysis of Research Alignment
The Grow Your Mind program was aimed at having its evidence-based base and adhering to the tenets of positive psychology, SEL, health and well-being, and neuroscience (Speakes-Lewis et al., 2022). Positive psychology is the theoretical foundation for the Program as it aims to develop personal strengths such as coping with stress, increasing self-regulation, and developing compassion in students (Ryff, 2022). It also relied on specific program SEL skills to foster the understanding of emotions and to learn empathy and interpersonal skills to become better learners and citizens.
Research evidence in public health demonstrates the need to establish mental health promotion, as this skill can be learned at a young age, therefore preventing future mental health challenges (Ryff, 2022). The Program emphasizes brain health based on neuroscience, which assists students in realizing how their brains respond to stress and other related feelings. Aside from elevating the quality of the presented Program, this approach also guarantees that it focuses on the multiple interconnected factors affecting students’ well-being, which places the idea before schools as one of the most efficient means of improving mental health among students.
Effectiveness for Grade 3 Students
The Grow Your Mind program fits nicely into a Grade 3 class. At this stage of development, children learn more complicated aspects of emotions and socialization (Duncan et al., 2020). The program contains age-specific, exciting information, as animations and tasks are graduated according to the Grade 3 students' cognitive and emotional development. This means that the program does not require special implementation but can easily fit into the everyday lives of teachers; hence, there would be better enacting of well-being in the classroom.
The strategy of fostering an understanding of a shared language of well-being is particularly significant...
