You will create a proposal that will define what you would create for a non-profit organization. You will need to research the need in your community, whom are you trying to help, how would you receive funding, what are the requirements to create a non-profit in our community,
Pick one way that you can address a need in the community. You will create a non-profit that is creative and DOABLE.
Name your non-profit and create a logo.
Who will benefit? Identify the target group benefitted by your non-profit.
You must prove there is a need for your organization.
Where will the non-profit be located (city)?
What percentage/number of the population will be affected?
Are there other non-profits in the area that do the same work? How will yours differ?
How will you raise funds for your non-profit? Who are potential benefactors/donors? Are there fundraisers that could be done to help cover the cost of the budget?
People, groups, or businesses within the area. Must identify why you believe they would be a good donor.
Are there grants that you can receive?
Fundraisers to collect funds to begin when?
Basically, how will you cover the costs of the basic budget?
Create a motto for the non-profit.
The motto is something catchy that people will remember.
It does not have to be a complete sentence.
Create a mission statement for your non-profit.
Research mission statements for other non-profits to see what a mission statement looks like.
Be sure to have at least 3 goals for how the non-profit will help those who are marginalized.
Identify what services will be provided by your organization.
How will they address the need of your targeted group?
Who will provide these services?
Identify what is needed to begin. This should include a starting point (Day 1) and what the growth plan is for 5 years down the road.
Location- can be local, online only, or anywhere worldwide
Staff- what jobs need to be done and who will do them?
Materials- what items are needed?
What are the initial expenses?
What would be the monthly cost?
Create a budget (based on the items #8). How much money would it take to start this non-profit? This should include a starting point (Day 1) and what the growth plan is for 5 years down the road. Show your work.
Make sure you create a works cited with all the content of your proposal.
You will submit a Word document proposal on Moodle.
Be sure your presentation is grammatically correct, neat, and easy to read. You will not get credit for being silly.
Make sure your non-profit is something that is doable, while being creative (REMEMBER: what is needed to start and what does growth of the non-profit look like).
You should be able to answer whatever questions are asked.
Using the guide above, please begin working on the basic parameters of your NPP (Non-profit project/ proposal). My recommendation is to answer the questions that you can from the questions above. For this assignment, I would like for you to create TWO outlines. One that you craft, again, using the "checklist" of sorts and the second you will ask AI to assist with. Please upload all of these components in one file and I would like you to respond to the following:
Clearly, AI is going to have a response and outline created more expeditiously than writing it ourselves. What other benefits does using AI have here? What do you notice about the AI submission versus your submission? Please note which outline is AI (again, you will need to cite). Is writing up the outline more useful? Why or why not? Essentially, reflect on using AI (even if you feel incredibly guilty for using it!).

Nonprofit Project Proposal Outlines
Nonprofit Name: Community Threads
Motto: “Dignity in Every Stitch”
Logo:
City: Trenton, New Jersey
Outline 1: (non-AI)
1. Community Need and Purpose
Community Threads is a nonprofit designed to help low-income and justice-involved individuals in Trenton, NJ, obtain clean, tailored, professional clothing for job interviews and daily wear. The idea is simple but powerful: give people confidence through proper clothing.
2. Target Population
This program targets the unemployed, individuals transitioning from incarceration, and young adults aging out of foster care in Trenton. These populations are often overlooked in traditional workforce readiness programs (Gervasio & McAloon, 2013).
3. Proving the Need
According to the U.S. Census Bureau's QuickFacts for Trenton City, New Jersey, the poverty rate for the period 2019–2023 is reported as 26.6%. Many residents lack access to suitable professional attire or basic tailoring services.
4. Location and Reach
Headquarters will be based in a donated storefront downtown. We aim to serve 1,000 individuals in our first year, which is roughly 1.3% of Trenton’s population. The goal is to grow 20% each year, reaching over 3,000 individuals by year five.
5. Uniqueness
Unlike thrift stores, Community Threads offers curated outfits, one-on-one fittings, and mentorship for job-seekers. Services are free and personalized, designed to restore dignity and confidence.
6. Funding and Donors
Initial funding will come from:
* Community grants (e.g., NJ Economic Development Authority)
* Donations from local businesses (barbershops, dry cleaners, tailors)
* Crowdfunding through GoFundMe and local events
Fundraisers, such as clothing drives, "Threads & Tea" luncheons, and silent auctions, will begin three months before launch.
7. Grants and Fundraising
Potential grants include the Community Services Block Grant and Walmart Foundation’s Community Grant. We will apply during the first two months of incorporation.
8. Motto
“Dignity in Every Stitch”
9. Mission Statement
“To provide marginalized individuals in Trenton with professional attire, tailoring services, and workforce readiness support to empower their journey toward employment and dignity.”
10. Goals
* Outfit 1,000 people with job-ready clothing in the first year
* Host monthly job-prep workshops and resume clinics
