This condition is causing him to lack the ability to form new short-term memories, interfering with his journey to revenge for his wife’s murder. Lenny has been using photographs and handwritten notes to attempt to find the person who harmed his wife. He is also using tattoos to prevent forgetting (PicturePerfectChannel 1:30:21-1:31:09). However, this film is built on incomplete information and lies, which causes some inconsistencies. For instance, he had already revenged on John G. for assaulting his wife even though he had not murdered her. This film has similarities and differences about how people with hippocampal damage are likely to behave in real life. Lenny retrograde amnesia has some similarities with a person having hippocampal damage. For example, he forgets some information regarding Sammy and confuses his life with Sammy's life (PicturePerfectChannel 1:26:36-1:30:09). For instance, after Teddy explains to Teddy that he had successfully found the person who killed Lenny’s wife, Lenny tells him that he does not believe that that was the person.
