Twinsters: Film Analysis
Twinsters, initially released as a biography in 2015 and later labeled as a documentary, is a true story of two identical twin sisters from South Korea, Samantha Futerman and Anaïs Bordier. Both live in different countries unaware of the presence of each other because they were separated at birth and were adopted by their respective fostering parents. Anaïs Bordier finds out about her sister Samantha Futerman through a YouTube video shared by her friend, and the entire reunion of two sisters takes place through social media platform, Facebook and Skype.
Twinsters explores the idea of child adoption in a way that is fascinating in a few ways and distressing in the other. It makes the story heartfelt with its exceptional editing and pace (White 268). The documentary serves as a foundation to invoke a thought process about the pain and emotional suffering the adoptees go through. It pays tribute to those adoptees with its theme and with its happy ending it motivates them to make efforts to reunite with their birth families. It is essential to understand here that the journey to these two sisters is shown in a slightly dramatic way, but someone tries to follow these steps he or she may not succeed at the same level. So, this documentary should not be taken as a guideline to make a to-do list.
Since I have chosen a documentary and what a makes them different from the feature films is that the environment and the world shown is usually real and there is no element of fabrication to enhance the vi...
