Quality Writing: Proofreading Papers
No matter what you are writing, whether it be a research paper, an essay, an online comment, or even an email or a text, PROOFREADING your work is of paramount importance. A piece of writing strewn with mistakes is never effective. Please watch the video below, and then submit a response — NOT a summary — at least 300 words long. Don't summarize anything in this class. I want to know what YOU think. I already know what the writer, or speaker in this case, has to say. And remember what I wrote on the Home page:
Don't be afraid of going out on a limb with your analyses. Don't be afraid of being wrong with your interpretations. If you have a "crazy" idea, run with it. Write what you want to say, not what you might think I want to hear. Write the comments that only YOU could write. Don't be afraid to be honest; honesty is what real writing is all about. And write using the vocabulary you are comfortable with. There is no need to use "fancy" language. Most impressive is language that is clear and straightforward.

The concept of quality writing lies greatly in the structure of the wording and the quality given to the prose. There must be great transitions and wonderful improvements in the grammar for better readings. I think it shows professionalism to crosscheck the paper for any mistakes or errors. Errors in written papers make it tricky to comprehend and turn off the reader's attention.
