Love and Basketball
Love and basketball is an American romantic film that narrates a story about Quincy and Monica. The two characters are great lovers of the basketball game, and they do their best to achieve the goal of becoming the best players. The two decide to pursue the same career in basketball since this has been their dream. They are next to door neighbors in Los Angeles, located in California. Just before the final scene of the film, Monica challenges Quincy to play one on one for his heart (Gina Prince-Bythewood, 92). This is because, in the scene, Quincy expresses little nonverbal cues to confirm that he is interested in moving on with their relationship. Instead, most of his cues display some negative appearances that suggest physical roughness toward Monica during the one on one game.
On the other hand, Monica displays nonverbal cues that are opposite to Quincy. She even removes her jersey before the start of the game to show Quincy that she will give up on the game if he acts so rough on her. In the last scene, Quincy and Monica break up (Gina Prince-Bythewood, 119). In this scene, Quincy shows all his nonverbal cues confirming his interest in breaking up with Monica. Firstly, he starts to dance with another girl in front of Monica. Thus, this makes the two to end up in a conversation that leads to their separation.
