The movie, Snowden, directed by Oliver Stone relives the personal struggles with the consciousness of a federal agent serving both the CIA and the NSA on various capacities as an expert in information technology. It is an account of Edward Snowden’s work at the agency and his influence in enhancing government’s surveillance on both the civilians and terror threats beyond the nation’s borders. In the effort to enhance national security, the United States’ government embarked on a mission of mass surveillance to alleviate or rather prevent terrorist activities from taking place within the nation and around the world. In servitude to the government’s effort, Edward Snowden offers his valuable input in developing surveillance programs after a short stint in the army.
The conflict of the movie plays out in Snowden’s struggle with his conscience when he discovers the government’s secrecy in disregarding the civil liberties of its citizens. I...
